100 year anniversary of the Lincoln Highway.... New York to San Francisco

everywhere I have lived has been within about 10 miles of it. Where I grew up (from about 3-19) was only about 200 yards from it.

What is interesting is that around the Plainfield, Illinois area, the route zig-zags around US-30, which is labeled "Lincoln Highway" on the map.

Our family had a Western Auto Store on the Lincoln Highway (US 33) in northern Indiana back in the 1950's thru 1976. I swept a lot of dirt from our sidewalk into that Lincoln Highway.

Western Auto.....great store when I was a kid. Last Saturday......I shot my "Revelation" 22 rifle which was purchased at a Western Auto in Ohio many years ago. :thumbsup:

The road here in my neck of the woods is also US-30. Through town it is named Lincolnway Drive. There are sections of the original that zig zag around US-30 here as well.

My place is on the original road, and up the hill is a marker where Lincoln spent some time apparently. It is just east of Jeromesville or west of Wooster Ohio.


Might have to watch for them...

Not as near as some. But I can be on the Lincoln highway if I drive about 30 minutes north.

Cool thread, and thanks for the links. The Lincoln Highway passes about three miles North of my house. I travel on it every day.

About 16 miles east of Canton in Northern Carroll County. Pretty close to where Stark, Carroll and Columbiana counties meet.
