I figured we ought to get an early start spoiling her, so we had her all day last Friday and Friday night.

And while she's not quite 9 years old, today was our grandson's 24th birthday. So we had him here a good part of the day today. His mother had to fly to Duluth, MN, Tuesday, was supposed to fly from there to Chicago yesterday, but her flight got cancelled due to weather up there, and she couldn't even get a flight back to Dallas/Ft. Worth yesterday, so she was flying home this evening. And while we're sweltering in the heat, she said she wished that she'd taken a jacket with her to Duluth.

I think it is the amount of temp change that gets us, Bird. One summer, I left Texas and triple digit plus temps to go to Oregon for a week to do some hang gliding. The highs in Oregon were 60-62. Now, that can be a nice temp to enjoy, BUT, it was almost a 50* temp change from what I had left, and I thought I'd freeze to death. I did the hang gliding anyway though. One doesn't get that opportunity every day!

I'm glad you got to spoil the granddaughter!

Whether it feels too hot or too cold seems to depend entirely on the individual. I usually think the house is too hot and my wife thinks it's too cold. But I've seen some things that really struck me as weird. My Dad never owned a short sleeved shirt, wore long sleeves year round, hated cold weather in Texas and Oklahoma, did not have air-conditioning in his business or their home; said it wasn't needed. And then, in 1965, when Mother & Dad went on a very brief few days tour by flying to Anchorage from Seattle, riding a train to Fairbanks and back, just promptly drove home from Seattle (had a slide-in pickup camper), got Mother's car and what belongings they could carry in the car and camper and moved to Anchorage in October. Mother only slid of the road once and Dad had to pull her out (he did have a chain). And you know the Alaska Highway was not paved in those days. And they both loved Alaska; lived in Anchorage for 6 years before becoming full time RVers and still spent a lot of time in Alaska for many more years. I would never have thought my Dad would want to live in a cold climate.

And one of my brothers who had lived in Alaska for 20 years, then spent one Winter managing a lube & tune shop in Corpus Christi said it seemed like the most miserable and cold Winter he ever spent.
