Spoke with Deereman! Will have his plug coming back to him right away. Also, gave him my cell number in case he needs anything in the future. Was out for two weeks in China visiting our factories and making sure we continue on providing excellent equipment. We got some new models coming that will be great for the farming market.

Will also check with customer service as to why they did not catch this post and how they can better monitor the forums to make sure customers are also taken care on here. However, i always recommend customers contact customer service directly via the following methods:

Emails:

help@longevitywelding.com - send email to customer support
support@longevity-inc.com - creates a trouble ticket where a REP is assigned and has to respond within a given time period.

Phone:

Local 510-887-7090 - 8 am to 5pm PST mon-friday
Toll Free - 877-566-4462 - Only Works in the USA.

Thanks

Ok, I just talked to simon, and we seem to have worked things out. He has been away, and the people normally on here as longevity are not part of the service side, and wouldnt have seen this.
He is sending me out my plug that went missing, and has offered to replace the stinger. I had no use for the stinger, as I have a new bernard shortstub, and I dont like clamp type holders.

Simon is the one to deal with. He is personally very good at customer service. If you have an issue, just go straight to him, and he will make it right.
It seems my anger came from no one from the service department seeing this. (kind of hard to provide support if you dont know of the issue LOL) Within 5 minutes of hearing from simon, I was happy, and things were back to what I have been used to from longevity.
He has even left me his personal cell number for if there is another issue. It seems they are just as good as they used to be.

Simon and I just talked again, and instead of trying to find the plug in their place and shipping it out, he has just used paypal to send me the cash to buy a new plug and cover tax. Much faster for me. Now I can get it going tomorrow instead of next week.

They will likely be butt ugly.. LOL
It has been more than a few months since I struck an arc. The only thing I have done in the last two months was some torch cutting and gas welding. I have quite a few projects to do.
I am planning on building a coal forge soon, along with some handles for casting lead hammers.
My dad and I are picking up a tractor for restoration on the weekend, and there will be many hours of gas welding to fix all the body work. Also building implements, a trellis for some vines, some ingot molds, and Im sure a lot more Im forgetting.

Its amaizing how hard it is not having a welder around once you get used to it..... I have a tig rig all set up, and once my tungsten arrives, I will post my (poor) first attempts.
Add in the 18 chainsaws in the shed, and I should be busy for a while... LOL
Even have some copper strainer baskets to make for an antique fire pump.

Having an Idealarc 250 and not hooking it up??? That machine will put your tombstone to shame! Probably the best (transformer/rectifier)single phase welder ever made!

I tried the idealarc out before i bought it. Yes it welds really well. My problem with not using it isnt the quality of the machine, its simply it has about 50ft of leads and I cant bring myself to shorten them up. I plan on building a cart for it, with racks for the leads and tig hoses, just aint got around to it. The fact that i have let it set for a year more or less just sort of reinforces my previous comments of sometimes it isnt really the need as much as it is the want when it comes to buying tools. I wanted the idealarc, but I have a mig and my tombstone ac/dc stick, did I really need it? And no its not for sale cause i still "want" it

Stick to yer guns - as I got older, I finally realized that there's a simple formula for decisions like that -

WANT = NEED

There was a time, likely when your grandfather was still working, that Craftsman was all or mostly all US made. They were an ok tool then for many things, mostly sockets. They have now gone chinese for their products and completely turned their back on US manufacturing. Lately, within the last couple months, they dropped Wilde as their prybar supplier (red hard handled model). Now it wil come from china and be grade A garbage, like all the other china pry bars.

Can you compare craftsman to Snapon or Mac now? NO. Not only in quality but warranty service. Ive heard where Sears has begun to ask for receipts in order to warranty, same thing that Crappy Tire has begun to do here. Who keeps a receipt for a "lifetime" so as to keep your warranty? I have many Snapon and Mac tools, and dont regret buying any of them. Very few people regret buying quality at the end of the day.

I hate to tell you this but you're wrong. Craftsman bread and butter, their sockets and wrenches are made in the USA. Some of their ratchets are made in the US and some in China.

Less and less everyday. Sears Canada has been 99.9% China for the last 5-10 years.

Prybars were just the latest.

Maybe your still finding some old stock? Dont know. Last time I was in the US (several years ago) I bought some US Craftsman, But its common knowledge that Craftsman in the USA is going to china.

" The Craftsman Professional wrenches and ratchets are no longer branded as such theyæ±*e now åull polish (and made in China). "

Chinese vs. USA Craftsman RP ratchets (PICS) - The Garage Journal Board

Well, gang, it looks like Craftsman has finally been taken off of life support.
Saw an Ad in the paper for the 4-piece Craftsman adapter set at 50% off. Went in today to get it, but after I grabbed the $9.99 deal set, i took a look at some extension bars that had different packaging than before.
Then the U-joints.
Then the Drive adapters.
China. China. And you guessed it, China.
Core line of Socket accessories ALL made in China.
The "Made in China" Label was so small my phone couldnt see it clearly.
1/4'' drive Socket Accessory set. Made in China.
Final Nail in the Craftsman Coffin. - The Garage Journal Board

. After looking at the writing on the wrenches I immediately noticed that the "FORGED IN U.S.A." was gone from the back of the wrench as well. I looked on the box and what do you know, on the side it now says "Made in China".

Sorry if this topic is well worn, but I was frustrated to see that Craftsman wrenches (the traditional ones with the raised forging on the handle) are phasing to China made.

My store had a few sets of the Made in USA stuff, but most of the inventory is now China.

I could go on, but you should get the point. Stock up on US Craftsman if you so desire, because the Chinese stuff is working its way through the pipeline.

The current best place for cheaper (Then Snapon) US tools, is the reborn SK tools. They seem to be committed to US manufacturing.http://www.skhandtool.com/products/wrenches.aspx http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=142287

Kudo's to Simon for looking after you! Perhaps he can find out why who ever had time to post pictures of projects on the Longevity site seemed to completely miss/ignore the post specifically dealing with a Longevity welder and then trying to make it seem like it wasn't a big deal. It sounds like Simon really cares about his customers and needs to get the rest of Longevity on side so they gain customers instead of lose them. The least they could have done is acknowledge there was a problem and that Simon was away but would look after it when he returned.
