Hydrostatic Drive

Here is one thing I heard from an LS dealer recently.. He said the 3033 was a "little doggy" with the hydro stat, and recommended the 3039H with hydro, as it had more power in the same basic sized tractor. Kinda of like some people will recommend if you have a cab and AC you go for the tractor with a bit more horsepower. I will point out when asked, if he had a 3033H he said no... but he had 3033 shuttles and 3039 hydrostats in stock... Now take from that what you will. Of course knowing I was asking about a hydro equipped tractor, he would I am sure rather sell something he has in stock, instead of something he does not have! Do hydrostats use up some power and convert that to heat?.. yes they do.. not a whole lot but "some" Are hydrostats the absolute best thing for loader work and mowing and any kind of precision work, including working around buildings and people? YES. the best thing since sliced bread with warm butter.:licking: For those who know me and are wondering, it wasn't for me it was for my BIL. So draw your own conclusions.

That what what I have read about the small orange tractors and it better to move up HP and get a hydro with 3 range.

I am looking at the LS3033 and am trying to decide if the hydrostatic drive is sound on these tractors. The dealer recommends synchro shuttle and that hydrostatics require more maintenance and requires the engine to be run at higher speeds. They don't stock many and talk them down. Perhaps because the LS buyers are price conscious. Kubota hydrostatics are highly touted, but I haven't heard anything about LS. Others tell me that if we are doing a lot of close work with a FEL that shuttles are more work and that it can wear the clutch.

Any comments welcome.

Sounds like BS from that dealer to me. I have the G3038H and I love the Hydrostatic. Not a lick of problems with it yet, at just under 50 hours.. Bonus is, it's so easy to handle my wife does a lot of the shredding these days.. :)

Does it seem to have enough power and move well under load?

Plenty of power.. And with Low High and Medium settings, four wheel drive with locking diffs, works great with the hydro..

I figured it would be pretty good. I recommended one to my BIL, but he went for the Kubota L3200 and a trailer deal. I thought the LS was a lot of tractor for small money.

To the next person here that goes to a dealer, see if we can get an answer regarding the origins of our HST trans ? I wonder if they would have an answer...

I wonder if it is similar to the zero turn mower market ? When I was shopping for my ZTR, I found that nearly every manufacturer used the same transmission...

I have had this same question. I asked my dealer who made the hydro in the R3039H and he did not know but guessed it was probably Sundstrand or Eaton. I don't think there are that many hydro manufactures. Most all tractors have an out-sourced hydro.

I just bought an R3039H and the "go" pedals seem pretty hard to press. Is this normal?

Mine were stiff at first also, but I've noticed that it's starting to break in now. The pedal, the loader, everything seems to be working much smoother now. Right around 60 hrs
