I can't wait until Ford follows! I don't need an F-250 or 350, but I sure could use a diesel F-150 :)

They still have to make it to the dealers lot. I will belive it when I see it.

Thanks for the link. I am really interested in seeing what kind of mileage it ends up getting. Seems like a great option for people that want some mileage but don't need massive HP (but still has great TQ #'s).
I hope other manufactures come out with Diesels in their light duty trucks - seems it is a win for the consumer.

Chris - why do you think they won't? As a company they had the Liberty in Diesel, 2500/3500 have diesels, and they have the Grand Cherokee with a diesel, heck Chevy even has a Cruse (compact) with a diesel. Can't even imagine RAM would develop, market, spend a ton of $ on them, then do all the press introductions and not release it.... If the US market starts getting used to diesels I think we are going to see a LOT more vehicles introduced with them in the future.

These days I'm only using my current f150 for towing my 5000lb boat, and for hauling a bed full of gravel. I bought a small car for commuting, and average 30mpg's. If I could even get 25 mpg's in a new truck, I could justify getting rid of the commuter car and only having to maintain one vehicle! For the weights I'm towing, I definitely don't need a 3/4 ton truck, but the fact that they get better mileage than 1/2 tons right now have me leaning towards one. I think I'm going to wait and see where things head with this :)

I applaud any company that brings a meaningful diesel option into the USA or Canadian market.

But really, it is just smart business. VW has been doing the same here in the car market for years - so long as there is demand, being the only the only player in town (or in this case country) is a nice position to hold.

I'm not what would be called a Chrysler fan, but truly do welcome this option to the market.

Sounds like GM may be moving in this direction, I'm hoping Ford qualifies their Duratorq's for use here sooner rather than later - I'd buy the new Ranger diesel in a heartbeat.

Keep 'em coming ! (insert smiley with fingers, toes crossed here <<<<<< )

$2800 over a gas Hemi. So we're talking ~$35K for this eco-diesel Ram 1500?

my concern on a new diesel is "will it hold up over the long haul"?
The speaker mentioned a 3 year payback, but if there is many repairs (we all have heard or had the invoices on repairs of new designed diesels) those paybacks can disappear quickly.

I belive if anyone can do it it will be Dodge but I have been hearing the same thing for 10 years now. I am skeptical. The EPA is the biggest hurdle.
