If low life friends is all you have then your inclination is to be low life,, If you have a true mentor that believe in you,, They in turn will listen to that mentor sometimes that's all it take to turn someone around especially at that age.. If you go with your gut feeling most of the time that is the right decision,,
I would leave him there for a while, week or so, then visit him and have a long talk about what he wants out life.. Lou

I wish I could give him regular work. I just don't have enough of it to do so otherwise I would have . He works like a horse and is good at it too.

This is not an uncommon quote, while they are smoking the pot. If for some reason they can't get it than strange things can happen. My sister went down this road and she is now 44 and still a mess. People who do things wrong need consequences. Being in jail will either straighten him out or push him way over on the dark side.

He is in a jam- no judgement. This isn't going to stop. He'll skip, won't have transportation, have an emergency and never make it to court if you bail him out. You'll be stuck. 1500 is too much, so is 225. Hire him when he is available, but you can't put him on the right track. Only he can. Pot is one thing, credit fraud- that is something else. He's heading for hardcore. Bail him out and you are his money bags. You'll never see the end- and nothing in return.
People make stupid choices- just don't go along and drown with him.

Answered your own question - you cannot afford it, hes ran off on you before, its not his first time... You owe him nothing. Let him sit.

no way! Let him sit in jail and think about his screw up, that is if he even realizes he screwed up. My dad always said, " A fool and his money shall soon part" I"m not saying your a fool but i dont think you should chance loosing the money and going without because of someone else's lack of judgement, . . .John

Don't bail him out. He needs to learn about consequences.
Be very careful hiring him again. You may very well be his next target. He already knows what you have and where you keep it.

Agreed. Its just not something I can afford to lose money on. Ive got my own family to worry about and cant risk losing money on something I can control or have faith in or become the person to call every time he screws up. Thanks for everyone's input. Its very helpful and appreciated.

If you help him out, then he will have you on the hook. Then he will need a few hundred more for something else and the hook sinks even deeper. Before you know it you would be on the hook for 10-20,000 with no end in sight. He had enough money to buy drugs; he should have saved that for bail.
