If you really want to help him out then let him sit in jail. Write him a letter telling him that you hope he gets well and turns his life around. When and if he does then hire him to work for you. That is just my 2 cents worth.

Most kids are followers, very few are leaders. If you don,t see the potential for the kid becoming a leader, then maybe some time in jail will help convince him that he did some dumb things to get himself into that situation, and hopefully he learns from it and it never happens again. I would give him some thinking time to sort out the mess he is in by himself.

I agree with the sentiment of letting him solve his own problems. This is the only way he will learn. Hopefully he won't screw up his life irrevocably.

I spent thirty plus years saying this to parents, siblings wives etc., "don't waste your money". I do believe n turning your life around etc., but only one person has any control over that and that's the one sitting in jail. A family member ignored this advice twice in the last year and got stuck both times. You will never change until you are willing to accept the consequences of your actions and make the needed changes on your own.

I'd consider giving him a chance, being a mentor for him as a 'last chance'. BUT, I'd have him working for me for free, up to $225 (bail) and $1500 (bond), just to keep him honest. If he skips out on the court date, he gets nothing and you at least received work in exchange. If he goes, he gets paid for the hours worked and hopefully gets onto the right path.

Yeah, I agree he has to learn on his own I can't do it for him. I've given advice to him more than once on things he can do to make something of himself and pointed out to him all of his good qualities and talents. I may go visit him after next weeks vacation. Per the jailer he got at least a month jail time waiting for court.

Trihounds: I considered that also but he moves around a lot since his "mother" keeps kicking him out. He lives from place to place in a very low income trailer park and pays his way by giving the host his food stamps. Whats is sad is when he was proud to have gotten food stamps. A form of currency.

Millions of good people out of work, hire one of them. I don't know what you do, but if I hired you to do a job and you brought a FELON on the job,you would be gone in a flash.
