Ken what new truck are you going to buy!. I think it is time to go truck shopping.. Someone somewhere is trying to tell you something.

Me and the Man upstairs already talked about this matter. This truck was suppose to last me till the end. Ken Sweet

It looks like he changed your plans. :?: Somehow while following this thread, Elton John's song "Funeral for a friend" keeps popping into my head.

That was a very nice truck...

Ken I know what your are talking about, I had a nice 2000 Silverado with 39000 miles on it.. I was putting about 3500 per year on it.. It was cherry..I just bought some nice new tires.. Not that the originals were worn out, but they were getting old and had cracks. So in 2010. a lady tried to take the wife off of this planet by running a stop light and smacking her (in my cherry truck) in the side. The lady just totally missed the light, (probably texting) and never touched a brake pedal.

I figured that truck would likely last me as long as I would need a truck.. It had been paid for many years back. Now I have a nice new truck, and a truck payment, (although not a large one). Sometimes things just happen. Ken I sure hope this works out well for you.

They made a bazillion of them.

Nuts and bolts man.
If you plan on buying another one of the same buy it back from the insurance company to use it for parts.

Otherwise hoist a beer as a toast goodbye and let it go.
It's just nuts and bolts.

James, glad your wife came out of the accident ok. Same thing happened to my oldest Son a few years back. He and his wife were on a motorcycle at the time the lady ran the red light. Both survived and are doing ok now.
I have not decided what I will do for a truck. I guess I will think about it for a while. Ken Sweet

If it were me I would find a nice crew cab Ford F350 4x4 that needed and engine and swap over the engine and tranny. The solid front axle, locking hubs and the older Ford body style with a P Pump 5.9 Cummins + manual trans would be a very nice pickup, perhaps the best pickup never made.

The 4x4 Dakota with a 4BT swap we had at a dyno event was very nice as well. Owner put a (real) Dana 60 up front, swapped in a NV4500, and a modest lift kit, looked factory and provided over 25 mpg and lots of smiles.

Insurnce. $$$$ could help offset the cost and that swap is very common, lot's of DIY info and parts available.

I'd buy it vack and find another Dodge of the same vintage...

Ken:

Sure sounds like someone is making a statement with the truck right now.! Just watch out for the Hail, Lightning and the tree to fall on it or a sink hole to swallow it up! hahaha...

Older F350 with that Cummins in might just be a nice ride.
