Both sides of the front cutting edge on my 6' Gannon box blade are wore out to the point that it really won't cut going forward and it is always dragging the box end plates in the ground.

Will I need to contact a Woods dealer for a replacement or are there other options?

Any advice on removing the old edge and attaching the new? I haven't looked closely at mine to see if it is some sort of bolt holding it on or if it is welded and I will need to grind the welds out for removal.

Normally they use what are called plow bolts - think carriage bolt, but combined with the shape of a flathead wood screw, but with NO slot in the head. The plow bolt sits flush with countersunk holes in the cutting edge, then washers/nuts on the back side. The square shank sits in a square hole in the permanent part, so it won't spin.

I have a 7 foot gannon (before woods took it over) and it came with a newly replaced cutting edge so I've not had occasion to see if that's the way Gannon does it, but if you find flush fasteners on the face of the cutting edge then that's likely what you have... Steve

Most dealers have blades for sale, my preference is a 5/8" thickness 6" width double edged. All the bolts on blades I have measured have been on 12" centers, so they are fairly standardized. I have had good success with the blades made in Canada fwiw. Good blades seem to cost about $25/ft of length. I also use new plow bolts when I change the blades.

Have the blades already been flipped 180 degrees? Ace hardware usually has plow bolts too. I've been using a company called "Cutting Edge Supply" for my blades. They are much cheaper than the dealer and they deliver at no charge if you can wait until you're on their route.

Edit - I just reread the post and saw that it was both sides of the front edge, not both edges like I read it originally.

Yes - I was able to get replacement plow bolts - grade 8s I think - at an Ace hardware.
