Reading on the front axle of a 3520 I see a serial number and the name "Priger" (or "triger" or "friger", difficult to read because the tractor was dirty).
I think this name maybe the name of the factory who made the axle.
Anybody knows who build the 3000 series front axle ? Sounds like an american name...

I would have thought "Spicer" . That is who builds the 4x20 axles.

Hi Arlen,

Interesting, did they write Spicer on your 4720 front axle?
Is "Spicer" an US company ?

Yes, it's a US company, and one with a long (and good) reputation in the automotive world. They have probably been building axles since the wheel was invented.
You can imagine my shock when I saw "SPICER" embossed proudly in the casting....right next to the "Made In China".

Arlen,

Really ? Does it mean Spicer manufactures its axles in China or China is making copies of Spicer axles ? Did you read this on your John Deere axle on on another one ?

I'm sure that Spicer has factories in China...just like everyone else.
And yes, I read that on my JD 4720 front axle.
Maybe it's OK, China sure does a nice job building iPhones:stirthepot:

Thanks Edward and Arlen,

So, 3520, 4720 and 5M's axles are built in Chine for Spicer.
Anybody knows where are the transmissions made ?

The eHydro is made by Sauer-Danfoss. I don't know where though.

The eHydro is made by Sauer-Danfoss. I don't know where though.

Thanks a lot Arlen.

With your help I found this :

Maximize productivity with an eHydro™ transmission

And this :

http://www.sauer-danfoss.com/stellent/groups/publications/documents/product_literature/520l0935.pdf

And this, nothing to do with ehydro but indeed a Deere mechanical transmission.

You are 100 percent right !
