The 6.5 is still the engine they put in the Humvee's too. Though they aren't made by gm anymore. They are built way better now as far as materials go. GM really cut costs when they used cheaper alloys in the blocks. But mine keeps chugging along.lol

How many miles?

I was under the impression that they don't make humvees anymore. I thought I read that they were obsolete among the new mrabs.

Don't forget VDOT had all 6.5L 1500 trucks for ever.

I don't remember them. I do remember they used to have a lot of chevys though. They have a few Fords now here.

In late 1999, AM General and General Motors Corporation finalized an agreement to jointly pursue product, marketing and distribution opportunities for HUMMER. Under the final agreement, GM acquired the exclusive ownership of the HUMMER brand name worldwide and the original HUMMER was renamed the HUMMER H1.

In 2002, AM General opened its new HUMMER H2® Assembly Plant in Mishawaka, Ind. next to the plant that produces the military Humvee. There it assembles the exciting SUV and SUT variants of the HUMMER H2, designed and brought to market by GM.

In 2006, AM General and General Motors jointly decided to cease production of the larger HUMMER H1. AM General continues to provide parts and service for the HUMMER H1.

Although GM acquired the HUMMER brand, they do not own any part of AM General LLC.

It does appear that they still make the military one however, maybe that was where I got confused.

As far as the H2 goes I think GM sold that brand off to a Chinese firm sounds 2008\2009.

Yup, and the AM General 6.5's are available too. If you check out Ebay or other auctions (some from military bases), take out 6.5's from the military Hummers are available. I forgot the casting numbers/years, but you can get a Teds (Ebay seller) engine for (if I recall) $2500-3000 (long block) that's "low miles" (but who knows how many hours.) Folks at the forum Diesel Place seem to like it (few have used Ted's engines). It's the latest desgn for the block, heads, good castings...basically a "perfected" 6.5...what it should have been from the start, but the bean counters got to it.

I was unaware that the Cruze were "tested" (actually, I just knew they were being realased in the US as a 2014 model)....but not sure if it was available outside the US prior.

but not the US. Thats pretty awesome for us if its true. Sorry guys lol. VW Amarok Pickup Heading to Canada? | AutoGuide.com News

I knew that we liked our diesels up here, but the number of canadians who prefer diesel to americans is a bit interesting. In the US its about 1% who like Diesels, in Canada 3.5%.

"While about 1% of vehicles sold in the U.S. are diesel, it's been determined that about 3.5% of Canadians buy diesel vehicles (more than hybrid and electric vehicles). This statistic is achieved with very few diesel options available (particularly in the car and light-truck market). It's estimated that 40% of VW (and 75-80% of Mercedes-Benz) customers will choose diesel when given both options. Canadian customers tend to prefer efficiency and resale value while U.S. customers continue to have a negative impression of diesel engines because of historical experiences with the technology from the 1980s. The company has indicated that they will proceed slowly to evaluate the potential market with a potential entrance coinciding with the newest model of the Amarok."

Yes please!
