Is that for an impact gun??? Looks like the shank for an air hammer/chisel

Yes, that and a Snap On PH3050 make quick work of any stuck rod ends. I have one that setup and love it!

Cool...looks very handy. At first I though you meant it hooked onto an impact wrench, I was struggling to figure out how that would work...lol

I put the nuts back on after i whacked on the ends awhile to no avail. I also reconnected the hoses to keep gremlins out. I never know how long it will be to get back under ther with thunderstorms and 90+ temps.

Thanks for all the advice.

Just a stupid question, but if he could get in there to pry or hammer, would it be a BAD idea to thread the nuts on a few threads to protect the threads, and then pry or hammer down on the end? with or without heat, PB Blaster, Liquid Wrench etc.?

Thanks,
Thomas

That's how I get most ends, put the nut on to protect the threads, then hammer it. If that fails, time for the pickle fork.

Don't know WHERE in the "sunshine state" you're in, so I just picked Daytona Beach for a search -

OEM/Pickle fork set (25261) | Air Tools and Accessories | AutoZone.com

This one's a bit fancier than most - as long as you have compressed air, any cheap HF $10 air hammer will do the job. I use one of the HF ones fairly often to drive 1-3/4" pins into/out of a full size Case backhoe with no problems.

In my experience, the air versions are more likely to work and less likely to damage other stuff than the "BFH" approach, unless you can support things to eliminate side stresses to surrounding parts.

The hundreds of hits of an air hammer sets up a vibration in parts which seems to help break apart rusted fittings in a lot of cases.

IMO, if you walk into an auto parts store and get a blank stare when asking for a "pickle fork", you should walk out and try a different store - preferably one where they DON'T ask if you'd "like fries with that"

Good luck... Steve

Thanks for confirming what I thought made sense, though hopefully I'll decades older before it becomes useful to me...

To the OP, Good Luck and take care,
Thomas

You guys are great.
I tried to live in Daytona for a year but didn't like it. So i'm on the west coast as far south as you can go. Just got a shade sail from the mailman/person so now i can work in the shade!!! Still pretty scary dodging the lightning though.

Took a few whacks a short while ago--needs more solvent. I have some B-12 Chemtool--think that would work?

My wife keeps asking me if lifting the front/steering off the ground would help. Since there is no real load bearing, i keep telling her it won't help. Is she right..........again??
