They can tell how many times the computer has been reflashed so removing the tune won't help.

Sure. If the tech is digging that hard. I don't know of anyone personally that has been denied warranty due to a tune. Not saying it hasn't happen. I do know of people who have had codes thrown due to a tune and get an engine light. Removed the tune, had it flashed and all is well. The common factor always seemed to be the 93 octane tune or "level3" which changes the factory parameters the most. Factory specs are set for a reason. It's a "safe zone" in the manufactures eyes for least amount of wear on major components. You move these too much, early problems can happen.

When it came to the new dmax, GM Requested a copy of the entire ecm image be submitted before warranty would approve any repairs.

The same should be able to be done with gassers, no?

The dealership here in Texas sell already lifted and big tires with factory warranty. They have a lot of them on the lot I drive by everyday.

Need more info. What was the issue in question on the D-max? I'm not aware of GM requesting ECM's on all D-Max warranty claims. If it was a costly failure and GM finds that a tuner was installed at the time of the failure, this would give them an out. A lot of things must fall into play for it to reach a level of investigation by the manufacture. My wife deals with warranty claims on Detroit diesels. In major engine failures, it is not uncommon for Detroit to ask for ECM's. It helps in finding what was going on prior to failure. These type claims aren't very common. However, if a claim starts being a repeat problem on several rigs with the same drivetrain, the ECM's are looked at to help determine what went wrong in the build process and how many could be affected.

Yeah... it is very common to see lifted new trucks for sale. When I worked at Arlington assembly, your truck didn't stand out unless you had a lift and some aftermarket wheels and tires. Black "bull ram" bumpers were also held in high regard in TX also and probably still are. Texans take their trucks very seriously. I love that.

That can get tricky..Most of the dealers farm out the lift on new trucks and the installation and components are covered by that shop/manufacturer..My neighbor ran into this with a 9" lifted Dodge HD2500..The pitman arm snapped in half. The Lift installation company said it wasn't their fault and Dodge said that they weren't the installer. He ate the cost of the flatbed and repair....The truck was done in Texas and shipped to PA which certainly complicates matters. He has had no other warranty claim rejections beyond that...If his ball joints or something stressed by the 38"'s that are on it fail, we'll have to see how it pans out. It is a pretty truck though.
