John Deere 4310
I picked up a JD 30 one bottom 3 pt. plow this week off CL. Great shape other than the paint. Does anyone know the vingage of this plow and how to properly set it up on a JD 4310?

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I am guessing late 1950s to mid 1960s. Reason being, John Deere tractors did not have 3pt hitch until around then.

I am trying to remember if I ever saw a two digit(40, 50, 60, 70) John Deere with 3pt. The three digit (520, 620, 720) I believe 3pt was still an option at that time.

Is this what it looks like? Found this on Google.

Or is this one yours?

As far as setup, I would guess it is like any bottom plow. Just adjust it until you have a level dirt turnover.

That's it exactly. I saw this pic when I tried researching but couldn't find anything on when they were made. I think this dealer wanted $300.....got mine off CL for $175. Figure I have to adjust it so it's about level and maybe left or right.....Should be a good way to turn over the 5 garden patches I have scattered around the property. Thanks.

It's a good looking plow. I have an old single disc turning plow that belonged to my grandfather. It is 36" or there about. We always called it the tiller. Not sure what the proper name is. We used it for cutting fire breaks or planting potatoes. I haven't thought of that old plow in years. It was so rusty I don't remember seeing any markings on it. I'll have to go look it up, and bring it up to the house for safe keeping now.

I couldn't find anything about your plow on google either. But it did send me back to this thread. So now you are the leading authority on JD 30 single bottom plows. Enjoy your fame. [and your plow]

My uncle call's it a broker, i have a massey broker one furrow, i pull it with my bobcat ct230, or the old 35 massey, i like the massey because of the draft option, it will handle roots from tag holder that are over 10 feet high and have a 3 inch trunk

Hope this helps.

We would use it in new ground, so as not to damage the regular bottom plows. It would cut through most any roots. Also for cutting fire breaks around pasture and pine trees. I'll try to look it up and post a picture.

Thanks guys. I found a manual on ebay for 8 bucks so I ordered that from a guy in WI. That should help out.
