Thanks!

That would be a great modification; @ $330 the front light assemblies aren't exactly "play-toys".

"I knew you Oregonians were peace loving liberals otherwise you'd mount a .338 Lapua and a 50mm canon".

Good-one, most of our threats are closely associated with people who still live in their parent's basements; you know....protests, mayhem, and miscellaneous-mischief like breaking windows and causing other superficial damage like burning log trucks and incomplete homes to save the environment....if this was a hint on the $10,000 pyramid game....the answer would be

"things they can afford to do without the help of the current justice department".

Some of Mahindras pricing could make John Deere blush. Don't bend that tie rod or else thats $270. I asked if there was a tie rod strengthening device from Mahindra and was told if I weld something to the tie rod, I will void the 5 year warranty. If I bend it in the woods, its not covered as it is considered "abuse". Speaking of warranties: Today I used my new tractor for 15 minutes. It now will not shift gears and is stuck in 4th. They're coming tomorrow to straighten it out and to tell me what to do to fix it if it happens again. I said I do not expect it to happen again. Bad enough they leave it to me to tighten the fel bolts instead of using lock washers from the factory. Man…bad ju-ju coming from this tractor already.

I would think that the dealer should have caught that with their dealer prep? You did pay for dealer prep, right? :confused3:

What possible reason would welding on the tie rod have anything to do with say the engine or tranny? :confused2: My thinking is that your dealer may be the type where if you sneeze wrong it will void the warranty. :( :( :(

Any chance of a pic or two of your tie rod situation?

Arrow - give them two times to make your machine right and then get the HST! As far as the cylinder rod goes, yes it under the axle it appears. but if you put in a fixed protection device it should not void any warranty. Welding and reducing the strength of the parts may be but that's a stretch if you are welding on the existing steel frame element and not the cast pieces.

My first attempt would be to attach the angle iron with "U" bolts; it would be tricky drilling the holes at a 45 degree angle (for me anyway). Evenly spaced at 5 points should do the trick without threatening the integrity of the drag link.

If the drag-link is supposed to be weaker than the points of attachment at the wheels, then making it stronger may threaten the point of attachment at the wheel.

Seems to me there are no adjustments for the drag link as far a alignment is concerned, so why couldn't a machinist detach the tire rod end, slide a pipe over the drag link and reattach the tire rod end?

Brian, I spoke with corporate about the tie rod. The dealer has been more than helpful with any requests so far. As far as the fel, I think the dealer is at the behest of the corporation. They supply all the hardware to fasten the fel onto the frame but customer tightening after the first 5 hours and every 25 hrs there after seems to be mandated by corporate. They even have decals plastered right on the tractor telling the owner to tighten the bolts.

Carl I really did not like this tractor with hst. Personnally, I do not think it carries the hp for hydro. There are only two things that make engine power: displacement and rpms. This is only an 80 c.i. engine. This tractor needs high rpms to make power with hydro and that is something that I found super annoying. The 3616 at 101 c.i.with hydro was better but was $3500 more making it out of the ball park for me. The Mahindra guy came out early this morning and filed down the shift detents. He said it was a cheap design from Mahindra (Mitsubishi) but the filing should eliminate the binding. We'll see. Believe me, i'm not the type to put up with this kind of crap and if this tractor makes a habit of this, its gone. That's another good idea (putting something on frame itself to protect tie rod). Have to peruse the area more

This is a great idea Trask. I could use channel iron so as to not worry about drill angles. A welder could certainly do what you are saying but ypur first idea escapes the warranty issue and should do the trick. Why do I always think "weld"?

Lift the seat and you can get a good visual of the shifter and links it fits in for different gears. You can then move it. It may take a little more pressure but it will shift into neutral. This happened on my 3616 also. Its not a great design but my tractor has done everything I asked of it and more.
