Funny you said that because we just said that!
I have an 2011 Chevy 2500 HD diesel it has 104 000 km on it. Last week the light came on and said service now! So we did so and the truck been there since last Wednesday. after 4 days they find the problem and order the part....the part is not available in North America.....out of stock!! The def part that we needs cost 300 bucks and 400 bucks of labour and its not under warranty. And worst of all the part won't be in till the end of September! So two month with our my truck the dealer doesn't want to help me don't want to lend a truck what else are my options?
Thanks
ILLEGAL 100%!!
We dont have tailpipe checks here. Would a DEF delete make it through inspection? Is there a "stealth" install that will pass a visual check?
Our MTO is doing visual checks . All these deletes are not worth the fines, IMHO!!
I "know a guy" who'd pass my truck. Actually Im good friends with a couple mechanics who usually do my inspections and they dont look too deep because they know Im a mechanic myself and take pretty good care of my stuff.. but it is getting harder to get stuff through even for friends. Guys risk their inspection license if something "bad" happens.
Is there anybody out there making a kit that will pass visual inspection? What kind of fines are the MTO giving? Worst that would happen here is a "fail" in the inspection and you'd have 14 days to repair, but there would be no fines.
I meant road side spot checks. On top of tail pipe emissions, they are testing through the OBD port, for emissions readiness.
Two ways around the etesting are farm plates, or a northern ontario address. No exemptions to visual spot checks.
Do not know how big the fines are, I will never tamper with emissions systems.
Nothing like that here yet, and I hope it never comes! No emission checks ever. No OBD either. At inspection, exhaust check is visual looking for holes and leaks only. You could beat the matrix out of a cat and still pass so long as the exhaust looked right.(not that Id ever do that)
The DOT does do roadside checks, but its usually after community complaints that there are a bunch of POS cars on the road. And those are the ones they target. Cars that could never make it through an inspection (holes in body, rust, bad tires, etc.etc.). If your not driving a POS they wave you through. They know the vehicles they are after when they come to town. I like it that way![]()
Thought emissions equipment was warrantied for 8 years or something like that.
