Here's a close-up of a timber rattlesnake found on the road less than a mile from the house. We see a handful of them on our road every summer, but never have seen one while working in the pasture or anything...not that I'm complaining! I love the patterns on their back, cool lookin little creature. Would look good on handmade recurve bow!

It looks like a Sceloporus undulatus or Eastern Fence Lizard. The males are darker and tend to cut firewood.
