I was trying to finish up some landscaping and found a big yellow jacket nest in the ground next to the green power box. I rigged a 16' tree limb trimmer pole to the FEL, taped a broom handle to that and attached a gadget I got off Amazon that lets you work the wasp and hornet spray can by pulling on a long string. I drove the Kubota into position, lowered the FEL right on top of em and let fly with a whole can. A few tried to attack the Kubota, it was mildly amused at their futile efforts.

Good creative idea.
I had to smile when you told of the critters hitting your tractor because........I had a wasp kept hitting the hood of my Kubota one day and he'd hit it and bounce off and kept doing it. I had my sunglasses on and my Kubota hat and was just keeping on keeping on and starting to smile when he stung me right between the eyes. He must have finally figured out this Orange thing wasn't working out to well for him so go for the small patch of skin in the center.:confused2::ashamed: I smile now but I didn't then.

Here's another way to get rid of yellow jackets nesting underground:
The yellow jackets all go into the nest when it gets dark so you'll need a flashlight, a quart of diesel fuel, a rag, and a lighter.
Wait until about an hour after dark and locate the nest using the flashlight.
Pour almost all the diesel down the hole, throw the rag on top, pour on the rest of the diesel, and light the rag.
Those yellow jackets are now history!
Don't tell the EPA though!! They would have a heart attack, lock you up, and declare your yard a brownfield area!!

Don't even need to light the fuel as it's the fumes that will kill them (gas works better), or fire in your case

This brings to mind an accident that happened a few years ago in our neighborhood. A guy was brush hogging his field and ran over a nest in the ground. Having an allergy to bees he attempted to get off the tractor to escape. He was being stung at the time of dismount so in a rush to dismount he accidentally hit the gear shift selector knocking it into gear. The tractor lunged forward causing him to fall to the ground and the tractor rear wheel ran over his leg. The tractor continued to go forward and the brush hog took off his left foot.

He was going into shock from the bee stings and missing the foot when the FD arrived. He survived the episode minus a left foot sadly.

I was digging a trench with the back hoe for some drain lines moved a big rock and out came the hornets. One quick bucket of dirt stopped them dead. Had to avoid the stragglers trying to find their way back to the nest. So far they haven't dug their way out.:laughing:

I second the idea of waiting and dealing with the bees at night.
You probably don't want to light the electrical box on fire though.

When my parents first bought their place, Dad decided we would plow the field with an old IH tractor and two bottom plow. Apparently he hit a bee nest while doing a square corner. Ran through it, then put the tractor into reverse and backed right over where he had plowed the nest up. Needless to say the bees weren't too happy with him. So, he jumped off the tractor and ran... only to notice the tractor was slowly backing across the field with a swarm of bees around it. So, back to the tractor to shut it off. Needless to say he had over a hundred bee stings. Mom insisted he go to the hospital, but he was fine.

A couple of years ago on a hiking/boating trip, I decided to climb up to the trail from my boat to have a look around. I managed to hit a big swarm. I got to test whether diving into the river was effective at getting rid of a bee swarm. It actually was
