I'm a bit paranoid I guess. I had an uncle that was a house painter. When I was about 8 he got into a hornets nest around a gutter. He was stung many times on the face and neck. He went into the house and asked the lady for a glass of water. Then he layed down on her couch and she called an ambulance. He was dead when they got there. My aunt said he swelled up and suffocated.

Around here we just pour a large helping of sevin dust into the nest opening. The buggers track the dust into their den and they're usually all dead in short order. Once again, these operations are usually better conducted after nightfall.

I am allergic myself. 1 sting and it is off to the ER. More than 1 and doc says I am a goner like your uncle. I carry an epipen but am quite remote at times and I often wonder if they would work.

Sevin dust is readily available at most home & garden stores. I bought mine in a three 1lb canister pack for around $15 at Lowes.
