That is by far the best looking GM truck in my option.

I dont see that as much of a copy, especially since you posted a pic of a Honda...

RoMad. I'm pleased you had a good time in Australia. We don't have your spectacular scenery but hopefully the people made up for that.

It sounds like you were a little surprised to see all the 'drop side flat beds' in Australia. Are they uncommon in the US? They are definitely the drive of choice over here for people on the land and tradesman. They hold a lot more than a standard bed, theyre easy to load from both sides and can take a pounding. Most are just unpainted aluminium so they don't rust, and a few scratches and dents just add character. The standard beds seem to be more popular with decorators and landscapers in the city.

I was suprised to see so many drop sides. They are usually only seen on very large trucks over here.

I see that you are from South Australia. One of our favorite places while we were there was Kangaroo Island. Do you ever go there?

Uhh.... Don't see much resemblance between those two. The Chevy has sleek, curvy body lines and the HONDA is shaped like a S*** box. Must be one of the GM haters. Heck. Even Chris complemented it and that's saying a lot.

That tan chevy a few posts above is very nice looking.

mark my words, unless it comes with some anemic 4cylinder, it will get no better gas millage than the reg ram 1500. Cant put a turbo V6 in it like ford F150 because then it will put out as much power as the base ram 1500 and then your just steeling sales from your "full size"

IMHO it will compleatly miss the target audience. It will have specs 10% less than a full size with a 10% smaller price. not enough of a diffrence to attract the buyers who want something smaller than a full size truck, yet to close to a full size truck for the others to say frackit i might as well buy a full size....
(shure the fine print will say it ONLY has a towing capacity of 7500lbs vs the full size which is 15,000 or whatever the inflated marketing ridiculousness is these days)

OP - good example of great diesel offerings that we don't have access to in the world's biggest consumer market (USA) and it's poor northern cousin's (Canada).

There is another thread on here (looked back, but can't find it... arrggghhh) where I asked a poster from NZ about fuel mileage in his diesel full size 'Yota Land Cruiser, with all old school all mechanical running gear (locking hubs...). Truck was totally stock; they sell them off the lot down there set up as a serious off-roader would customize theirs here.

Great mileage quoted, from a guy that appeared to know trucks well. If you know LC's, they are not lightly built or aerodynamic. Wish I could find that thread.... I have some #'s in my head, but I think what he quoted was actually better than what I have in mind.

Sigh.

A US source of Australian-style (AU made?) beds:
