Which size brush cutter/mower for Yanmar 1700D?

I owned a YM1700 until last year, and my 4' rotary brush mower was all it could handle. In tall, thick grass, I had to go slow.

How does your 2210 handle the 4 footer in comparison to the 1700?

If it helps. I only run a 5 ft. with my 3110. In thick grass, it will bog the engine. I have to raise the cutter on take a smaller bite

It's better, but like Kenmac was saying, I can definitely bog the engine down. It's basically a question of how fast I can cut. I can cut faster than with the 1700, but no where near as fast as when I'm mowing the grass with our 5' finish mower. I forget what gear I run in -- I only use my rotary mower about once a year to knock down the honeysuckle and other garbage that springs up in our back field, and I haven't done it yet this year.

I too have owned a 1700 for 5 years and I have 4 footer. It is the perfect size. The 5 is too much. Watch out for chaff blocking the radiator. You will need to stop and clean the screen frequently.

Yep..4 footer is all a 1700 wants.

a four foot will work the best for you. get a overrun clutch for safety. mount the 3-pt hitch pins on the inside of the bush hog frame for easy of use. front end weights also help with front end bounce. you don't need much weight up front, just some to keep the tractor from hopping.
