I am jealous, of all of you. Not that you have melons to eat...but that you LIKE eating melons. I WANT to eat them...I just don't care for them...not at all. I always feel left out when the family sits down to snack on watermelon or cantaloupe or honeydew. My palate dislikes them all.

Now if that didn't trip your trigger, my second confession...I don't like TEA. Hot, cold, sweet, green, iced - yuk!!

Don't you kinda feel sorry for me :)

But I do love liver and onions!!!

Not like Iced Tea? Dean you got to retrain your palate. Maybe you had bad memories of ice tea things.

We also need to talk about those nasty bing cherry things you like! Now their big cousin the tomato, along with the bacon you speak of...comes pretty dang close to liver and onions!!

Haha!!

We cut our first melon out of the garden last night after supper. The seeds out of the freezer that said, Long Green Good, must have been hybrids. It was green and good, but only about eighteen inches long. With all the rain we've had, I'm clipping and tossing about three or four split or rotten ended ones a day. Plus a coon or something has found the Banana cantaloupes. Had two messed up night before last. Those vines are going downhill in a hurry and only a few more cantaloupes left. Hate to see those go, they sure were good.

Me, too! Incidentally, I always liked the yellow meat watermelons better than the red. But of course, yellow meat melons are hard to find. Last year I bought one for $7 at the little farmer's market in Denton, and when I got home and cut into it, it was so far from being ripe that it was inedible, so was just thrown in the trash. And on the 20th of last month, I was surprised to see yellow meat watermelons at Walmart, so naturally I bought one. It was barely edible and I did eat it, although it was not nearly as ripe as it should have been. And a day or two later, I noticed Walmart no long had those. I doubt that they sold all of them; suspect complaints led to removing them.

I can't seem to find any "regular" watermelons here in this area. All we can get are the "seedless", smallish, nearly round ones. We don't have the growing season here to grow our own. I used to love the "regular" melons with the seeds, easy to remove and fun to spit.

Bird, I drove by that little farmer's market in Denton last Saturday, but it was a flea market and pretty busy. I guess they have different kinds of markets on different days. There may have been somebody selling produce at the flea market, but they were obscured by all the booths selling junk and googahs plus a big inflatable water slide for kids.:)
