had a buddy of mine that has a 7040 hydro shuttle like mine stop by today.an showed alot of little tricks about the 7040 thatll make it easier for me to run.but i dont reccommend yall doing them unless you know what your doing.he showed me how to start it without the clutch.an to change gears with out the clutch at a complete stop.i leave the tractor in the gear i run/work in all the time.so when i crank it im ready to go.he also said i could turn the pto on without clutching.an that it would not jump like the old ptos would going into gear even if your running at 1500rpms or better.

Sounds pretty much like things I do with our M8540, it becomes second nature.

Sounds like a really good friend indeed, I am not having trouble with the step on the M8540 due to the rail placement, but need a step stool to get in my L5740.

they added a 2nd step to mine closer to the ground wich helps alot.as i can go up 2 steps from the ground with ease.then theres some distance between the 2nd step an platform.so i swing my left foot an legg over in the loader hole.an then step up on the tractor.but mind you that you have tobe careful getting on a tractor like i do.

I'm glad your friend helped you. I read that basic information in the operators manual. That's one of the reasons manufactures give an operators manual with each newly purchased piece of equipment.

3R your steps are exactly like the 1s on my 7040.i dont think ill try having the 3rd step added as it would be alot of work.an im used to swinging my left foot over to the loader bracket now an going on up on the tractor.
