I owned several Ford vehicles before I purchased that Nova which was the first GM car I ever owned, and it soured me on their cars and trucks for at least twenty years. The third or fourth time I shut the drivers door on the inside, the door handle popped off, and about a day later when I closed the door from the outside the window came out of the track. First time I went to a coin carwash, the water jet stripped the paint off both rocker panels. At about 1,000 miles, the automatic choke began sticking when fully warm, making the engine run at about 1600 rpm. at 11 months, the starter drive failed and ruined the flywheel....I swear, I never owned ANY car that gave me as many problems as that one did. Of course the dealership was a PIB to deal with when it came to warranty issues...

1990 Ford Taurus and 1973 Chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 pickup. Bought the pickup new. Average 31.5 years old. I don't drive a lot and both run like new, so don't need new ones.

Mine is a 2008 Volvo V50 and my wifes is a 2009 Toyota Sienna. I never keep cars long, these two are the oldest I've ever had. I have my eyes on the 2014 Ram eco diesel but I'm starting to realize how dumb it is to keep buying new cars. I'm thinking of buying the Ram with the intention of keeping it 10-15 years but I don't trust myself the follow through.

Average of our 3 vehicles = 12.66 years old. Median would be 12 since there is one older and one newer than the one that is 12 years old. Oldest 19 and newest 7.

I guess you're not going to keep the V50 for 15 years because its just a dressed up Ford Focus...
