What's the median age of vehicles in your household?

We have a 2001, a 2007, and a 2011(had a '04, totaled by a deer and needed to replace), for an average/mean of 7.6667, and a median of 7.

They are (in no particular order), a Honda Element, a Honda Fit, and a Ford F-350 Work Truck 4x4 7.3 diesel.

I am envious of folks in southern climes, and in the northern climes out west where CaCl and NaCl aren't broadcast on the road killing the cars, for the longevity of their vehicles.

just read an artical on USAtoday that said the avg age of all cars on the road rose to a new high. 11.4 YO from 11.2

still puts the avg in the early 00's and not the 90's..... I will admit, the more i look at my 94 yota pickup the more i realize its exists from a time when things were built a certain way that will never be repeated.

We just had to put down the wife's POS 2005 Dodge Caravan. Bought a Toyota Prius Hatchback for her.
I'm still driving my 2004 Nissan Sentra; although I've been getting either a belt or bearing squeal frequently when I first start up in the morning and sometimes in the evening. Goes away before I have time to pop the hood and look.

2006 F-150 and a 2004 Subaru Outback...that comes to an 8 year average.
Might replace the Suby when the truck is paid off, otherwise no plans to buy a vehicle.

Roy can I ask how you like the Suby my wife wants a new one?

Last week with the wife's 05 Prius and my 98 Tacoma the average was 11.5. Add the 13 Camry into the mix and it goes down to 7 2/3. We plan to keep all three of them forever or until they are too far gone to fix. So far zero troubles on the two older ones. Bought the Camry used with 4K miles on her. Will have to see how she shakes out.

Dang, my kids are shopping again. I think tonight I get to sign my name (age) to a 350z. Daughter has expensive taste!
The other one is shopping for a F-150. Loaded at that!

I had wished the younger one would have waited another year, so she could build up her credit rating, and not mine.

About 8 years...2004 Toyota Land Cruiser and 2008 Honda Accord. Held last Land Cruiser 10 years 210K miles...lower annual miles (135K total currently) but not sure how long I will keep this one. Likely to move to a 150 class pickup when time comes.

If it means anything, my Y2K GMC Yukon XL and 2004 Saturn L-300 have been driven in Michigan winters since they were new, and neither has any rust issues aside from the usual minor underbody rash. Yes, I do try to keep the salt off with frequent visits to the car wash in winter, but it's apparent just how much advancement has been made in rustproofing during the past 15 -20 years. ABOUT TIME, TOO !!! I purchased a '73 Nova hatchback coupe brand new, and three years after purchase both rear fenderwell lips as well as the rocker panels were rotted out, and at 5 years old the metal DASH TOP was rusting through....:laughing:
