I was in that area about five years ago and loved it. We stayed in Salida and explored all over the area in our SUV. Everywhere we went, we saw a bunch of ATV's and UTV's and ever since buying my Mule, I've wanted to spend a week camping and exploring the mountains in it. Just camp in a different spot every night and explore new areas during the day.

Take tons of pictures, I'm very curious to see them and hear about what it's like there.

Have fun,
Eddie

Do they generally allow utility vehicles on 4 wheeler trails out west? I know Ohio and Kentucky limit the width to 48". It would be fun to explore the trails out west.

Taylor Park is fantastic. Grew up in CO and went there several times over the years camping. Brother just went up there in June.

One of the best times I had was just taking off on a trail bike and climbing up some really rocky trails all the way above timberline. Bikes are really nice as they can get on all the small trails, but there are tons of great places to get around to no matter where you go. Take a backback or fishing pole and go on a tour of all the trails and streams.

Have lots of fun either way. Not sure on the size limits. I can't recall any for sure, but i know ATVs and bikes are common. Can't recall any RTV type machines driving around, but may just be as they are more uncommon. Take a look at the CO parks site for the regs.

Most of the trails are old mining roads leading high in the mountains to old gold mines. There are just miles and miles of roads for UTV and 4-wheel drive vehicles.

I have been going to Taylor Park just about every year for the last 10 years. We have taken bikes there too and what a blast they were. Getting a little older, so I must have four wheels under me know. As many times as I have been there, there are many trails I have yet to ride. May never get to all them, but I am going to try.
