The reality is that all brands will break as finally stated. There are some consumers that have no problem taking care of their own minor repairs or even major repairs and dealer support is not an issue. There are others that don't have the time or experience to even deal with the simplest of breakdowns. I'm sure that LS, Mahindra, Kioti, etc are fine machines. My caution is where are these dealers going to be in 5 years. I have never seen a LS tractor or dealer, the local Mahindra dealer is a camper shell dealer, and I haven't seen a Kioti dealer in years. 20 years ago all you had to do to become a Kioti dealer was to buy 2 tractors, I saw a couple people do this and didn't last long because there was very little factory support when it came to parts, I have to assume this has improved somewhat over the years.
My point is with the big 3 you have a pretty good idea what you are getting with factory support, dealer support will obviously vary. I have worked on many different brands in my 27 years as an equipment mechanic. I prefer Kubotas for their simplicity in engineering compared to John Deere and New Holland. The New Hollands are far too electronically fragile in my experience. I also like Kubota on their parts availability but I think John Deere has a better parts network and more inventory in their local warehouse. Once you get outside the big 3 it's a crap shoot in my opinion, with an exception to AGCO possibly.
For the weekend warrior saving $10k on a machine that may only see a 100 hrs a year makes sense, even if you may be down waiting for a part if something breaks. Saving $10k on a machine that sees 200 hrs a month and having to wait a week or more for that part makes less sense.
I have no idea how good LS's parts or dealer network is but it would certainly be in my consideration if I were adding it to the mix.
