Posted this problem under the repair heading, but not getting many responses. Anyone run into a problem where the tractor runs fine on level ground but rapidly drops RPMs going up hill (eve a slight grade)? Problem happens when mowing or with PTO off, at times runs ok for a while before issue occurs, other times happens right away. Did all the obvious, added a "water remover" to fuel just in case, replaced fuel filter and bled, still NG. No sign of leaks, oil & coolant ok. Does blow white smoke after problem occurs, which seems to indicate a fuel issue, but at a loss right now.

what range and RPM are you at?
I'm not an expert, by any means, but I've already noticed with mine that if I am driving up a slope in MID, and the RPMs are not high enough, it will bog. If the RPMs have to be higher than I am comfortable with to keep it from bogging, then switching into LOW and going a little slower gets me there. I haven't tried it, but I doubt HIGH would give very good results going uphill at any RPM.

Yes, H is not for climbing hills. What RPM range are you at when trying to do the hill thing?
Sounds like it could be the lift-pump.
What # of hours are on the machine?

2500 RPM usually mow in M unless going up a steep hill, then L. This is happening even with the PTO disengaged, in L, on a hill I normally could climb in M with the PTO engaged. RPM drop off is sudden and severe, not the gradual loss of RPM going up a hill in too high a gear range.

I agree, only use H when I'm traveling on the pavement to get to my back field. Other than that, M is the usual, with L as needed on the steep hills. Mowed the last 2 years with it and never had this issue. Less than 200 hours on tractor, unfortunately turned 4 in March (end of warranty).

Have you changed your air filter? If it's clogged it will show up more under a load like mowing uphill...And there is serious debate among those in the know about whether shaking or blowing out a filter with compressed air, on high compression diesel engines is advisable. I'm leaning toward the most current thinking: not to try to clean it....
Fuel starvation will result in loss of power under load, if the lift pump is failing or marginal. I don't know if it can be removed, disassembled and put back together after cleaning.

Less than 100 hours on air filter, looked ok. Kind of ruled out an air problem since that did happen on my Mechron, but smoke then was black, smoke on the tractor is white, which appears to indicate a fuel (lack of) problem. Thanks!

Do a quick idiot check of the parking break and the rear remote. Also look at your implement to be sure it is lubed and working properly.

Sounds like a lift pump issue. Does it happen if first running tractor of after it has been running for done time. If it accrues after tractor has been running for a time if could indicate a tank vent problem as well. Next time it happens loosen fuel cap to see if it makes a difference. If it doesn't I would check the lift pump or kinked fuel line. Check the easy free stuff first.

This might sound odd, but try lifting your foot OFF the pedal some as you notice the RPMs drop.
