Back to tractors, I've had a gun for many years.

Is there a huge difference in size and maneuverability between the Kubota bx series and B series (the next step up)? If so, how big of a difference? I certainly want more horse power, but do those bigger ones move around as well and get into tight spaces in woods?

bp fick and JOHNTHOMAS have owned and used both, you might find some of their threads on this interesting.

Here is just one: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/.../185147-bx1860-vx-b2320-contrast-compare.html

I can't speak to operating in the woods. Our place has some trees and other obstacles, as does the neighbor lady's 1/2 acre that I mow. After 10 years with a B7500 we replaced it with an L3200. It reminded me of the time the company replaced my Ford Bronco with a full-sized 4x4 pickup. When I parked the Bronco and drove the pickup the first time it felt "big". Within a week or so I was right at home in the truck.

Most of the hours on the L3200 are mowing with a rear finish mower. Moving to a larger tractor and RFM that is a foot wider hasn't been a handicap. It's much more comfortable to operate and I can control the 6' deck to get close and trim. Yesterday when I mowed I could get close enough to trim right up to the little solar driveway marker lights.

I can't speak to the BX as I have never operated one, but I had a B7500, and it was extremely maneuverable in the woods, I would think it would be a lot better than a BX as the BX has such low ground clearance.

Wow! Thanks TripleR. That's is a great thread to read. Very informative. I'm sure both the B abd BX have both been upgraded significantly since 2010 when that thread was started. I'm sure they are even more capable and user friendly now with better features. Thanks for sharing. I will keep looking and let you all know what I decide.

Be sure to post pictures of the tractor you purchase. We love pictures:thumbsup:

What do you guys think of buying a 2010 B3300SU versus a 2013. Is there that much difference from 3 years ago? They cost about $5000 less. Would a new tractor owner notice or miss any newer features? Or are they pretty much all the same. I plan on trying some out this week.

The BIG thing (to me) is who owned it and how did they treat it.
One of the worst things is if they gassed it up or bent some of the cylinders.

Since the base price on Kubota's web site is about $19K I'd expect one to be able to get it new for about $17K.

So if your talking 2013 with 0 hours for $17K or 2010 with ??? hours for $12K I'd go for the 2010 if ??? < 210 hrs.

The BIG thing you will miss is that $5,000 dip in your bank account.

But then who am I to talk. I bought my '95 M4700 w/ 1400 hrs on it in January for $12K and a comparable MX4700DT goes for about $30K list.

Of course I had to pay almost $5,000 to get it so I could use it fully:
Plow - $450
PHD w/ 2 augers - $700
8" Jinma Chipper - $1,800
5' tiller - $800
Piranha tooth bar - $300
Clamp on pallet forks - about $250
Hydraulic hose - $40
Diesel fuel - about $100

So I guess I've actually paid about $17K for it now. :)

And be VERY aware that many dealers will have a 2 or three year old tractor with near 0 hours on it that they will try to sell as new.

Late to the Party Doc...but thanks to your profession I am still able to use my land and tractor MI and stent

If you are still wanting to try out different tractors try your local tool rentals they have small cuts not subcut but it will give you test drive on your own land. I did that and it didnt take me long to realize the L3200 I rented was too small a tractor for me but it could do the work.

Rumor has it they eat ticks, but I have heard Guinea fowl are more effective at eating ticks. Here are some other ideas. Personally I don't care much for the birds.

.

My neighbor's guinea fowl pay me a visit several times a week (usually around breakfast time). They do a good job of eating the bugs in my front and back lawns.
