My dog loves to ride in the same spot. Most times he's already on the tractor waiting for me to climb up and start it while I'm still getting the barn doors opened up. After a few times he saw something he wanted to go check out and jumped down which worried me so I fixed a short leash in the center that lets him turn either way but prevents him from jumping off while working.

Well, my dog is afraid of the tractor for some reason. However, he loves the truck and believes the passenger seat is his and his alone.

My dog must think she is a "Kioti". She wants to ride every time I start it. So far, she has not tried to jump off, but I can't say what she would do if a rabbit crossed our path. You can't take the dog out of a dog!

I'll tell you guys a story. When my son was 14, he always took the dog on the 4 wheeler for rides. The dog loved riding and he rode on the seat in front of my son.

One day, they were riding across the field toward where I was working. A possum ran by and the dog suddenly jumped out. From my perspective, it looked like the dog jumped right in front of the 4 wheeler. I was thinking my son would run over the dog --- and believe me, that would have been a disater of biblical consequences (for the whole family but especially my son).

Anyway, he just missed the dog and all was good. From that day on, the dog was not allowed on the 4 wheeler. I didn't even have to say a word - my son knew.
