Question...how many of you can see the Banner ad's here on Rural Living?

now this is annoying. The banner ad recently is for Autozone, in SPANISH only. No subtitles, only a foreign language.
Do we really have any just Spanish speaking folk on this site? I don't think so....
Now this kind of advertising is just absurd.

YOU went to a Spanish site , or claimed some Spanish preference, thus the Ad is in Spanish.. The ads are based on what you do and were you go.

When we moved from our old house (where we got cable at no charge) to our new place, we got a subscription to Netflix Streaming and have just used that. $8/month for pretty much any movie or prior season show we want to watch and no ads. If we wanted to watch more new shows, we would drop another $8/month on a Hulu Plus subscription...

With only 5GB of usage in the plan, before overages are charged, I don't stream anything either. I still enjoy a good book, so really don't miss TV, movies and the like.

I know what you mean about a good book. I have ~150 books within arms reach of my computer and prefer them to most TV (I'll make an exception if the wife is watching Numb3rs or How Its Made in the living room).

No way Jose...
I speak zero Spanish, and while i may frequent some questionable sites, they aren't Spanish.
And they aren't that questionable either, for that matter... No Goggling of Spain, no trip planning to that area ,or Mexico, just bizarre they all of a sudden think I'm not a gringo any more.

I listen to Spotify because they don't 'timeout' like Pandora does. You can also save albums as playlists. I have a few hundred saved. The ads are a small price to pay for being able to listen to so much music. Although I will admit the Audible.com ad about the lady taking pictures of cats with her phone is pretty dumb. But Spotify loads when I power up my work laptop. As soon as I clock in I start listening, and continue until I clock out. {unless there is a race or a good ballgame on}

The CCRE ad was up when I started this post, but now it is a Google ad. I was wondering about the cost of a banner ad compared to the side ad. With the banner ad you only see it when you go to a new page, or scroll up to get to 'Home'. With the side ads you see them for a few posts. Just wondering which cost more.

The side banner is almost twice the price of the top banner. I agree, the side banner catches you eye much more than the top, but we just could not afford it at this time. I would really be bummed if we had paid for the side banner only to find it blocked by a majority of users. Muhammad also threw our banner ad in the monthly TBN newsletter for free which was very generous.....anybody seen it there?

Way back in the early 80's I built my first log house near Lake Palestine TX. The guy that cut all the logs for the house amazed me. He had built a circle mill, all hydraulic feed and assist from scratch and lived in a underground house(AAron Zedlitz was his name). Anyway, one day picking up a load of logs from him I mentioned something about TV. He looked at me and said, "Well, in 1959, I was watching tv with my wife when I turned to her and said I could be a lot more productive and creative if we got rid of the TV...... So we did and I have not watched it since. " Looking back that was the wisest thing I ever heard anybody say and it only took 30 years to sink in. Having no TV has got to be in the top 10 of life accomplishments for us...we love not having it!
