Kubota RTV 1100
New to this site. I have a RTV 1100 and the darn thing will not steer at all in cold weather. Starts fine and fluid levels are good. It might start to steer after idling for about 25-30mins.....outside temp might be around 25F. Has done this since new....dealer has no awnser... its about four years old. Personally I think its a joke, useless if you can't steer it! Just curious if anyone else has had this problem. Thanks!

I have a RTV 1140 and have had no steering or lack thereof problems in 3 years.
I do have a new Kubota F3080 that sometimes fails to turn when stopping and maneuvering and spinning the wheel in different directions to get my turns made. Steering wheel spins but wheel stays in place till I stop turning steering wheel, turn it to the left then turn back and off I go. Kubota regional rep told dealer to get me a new steering servo motor which they did and it's now in at dealers to be put on my F3080. Will see shortly if that's my problem.

What is being used for Hydraulic fluid?

I'll need to look, I know its what the Kubota dealer gave us, is there something I should be looking for....is there more than one option? Thanks

No apology necessary, just providing another source for help/info that may be better. If you don't have SUDT or SUDT2 in it then you may want to get some. That's what should always be used in Kubota hydro transmissions even though there are some rare individuals that disagree.
How long have you had this RTV and how many hours? Is it new or used?

I don't use the SUDT in my RTV 900 and my Kubota dealer doesn't even stock it because he says at our mild winter temps it isn't needed. Some folks claim it takes the whine out of the tractor HST but I don't find that to be a problem in my 900.
If you routinely operate it at 25F and below the SUDT would be recommended. Find out what the dealer gave you to put in and if not SUDT or SUDT2 then it might be worthwhile to invest in a quantity of it and change out the fluid and filter on the HST.
On the rare days it gets to 25F here, I have no problem with mine steering as soon as I crank it up with UDT fluid. Sounds like you may have some kind of restriction in the line that only hot thin oil can flow thru. If you bought it new, your dealer should have corrected it then. That is not normal.
