Was working fine the other day, next morning all it does is crank and won't turn over. Has fuel, all filters are clean, battery is good. :confused2:  :anyone: I am guessing a $225 Solenoid. Don't hear it clicking when I turn the key. Fuel are in fuel lines but wont make its way into injection pump. TIA

Check fuse box

Blown fuses, that can often cripple a machine.

I never knew tractors had legs. :confused2: Please refrain from posting on this topic please and why would I have to check the fuse box, everything is operational. Other than it cranks and wont turn over.

I don't understand "cranks and won't turn over", to me, that's the same thing. I assume you mean it cranks and won't start/fire off. Anyway, do a search for the term "thermistor" and you wil find a few threads to read, I am on limeted access so I can't link them. Basically, the fuel solenoid may not be pulling in because of this small inexpensive part.

Ditto, if the starter is spinning and engaging the flywheel, belts are turning, etc than the engine is "turning over."

If you suspect the fuel cut off solenoid than it can also be a problem with the wire and/or ground. If you can take out the solenoid, put some voltage from a battery to it to see if it "clicks." No click, then the solenoid is bad. If it clicks, than suspect the wire or ground. In any event, $225 sounds like a dealer price. Fuel solenoids are a lot cheaper if you buy them on amazon.com, ebay, or some other parts place and install them yourself. :)

Kenny is right. Thermistor is the most likely culprit. Very common problem. Here are just a couple of the thermistor threads.

Addendum:
While reading these old threads I noticed a glaring error I made in 2012. Somehow I must have gotten the different solenoid engage methods JD has used through the years mixed together while I was writing. Maybe I was just asleep. Anyway, my 755 does not use a thermistor. In a very basic arrangement, it just connects the pull-in solenoid to the starter. So no electronic parts, just a hard wire connection on mine.

Starting to guess its the thermistor. Heard the fuel solenoid click this morning. Thanks for the help. :D

We used to spray intermittent electronic components with a freeze spray to test them. Sometimes this will give you a clue if a heat sensitive part is starting to fail. A little R 134A would do the trick.

We have a 4600, and have had this problem happen before.

The fuel shut-off will sometimes stick on the back of the injection pump. I believe there are 2 10mm bolts that hold it in. You need to take it off and clean the rod, and inside of the shut off solenoid with a small round wire brush (like one from a gun cleaning kit) and lube with di-electric grease.

Forgot to update, replaced thermistor, started, it worked then it I shut it off. Now it doesn't crank or do anything when I turn the key.

I bet its the battery....check the voltage while trying to start.

Check battery voltage. If batt voltage is good then I suggest to clean/tighten all FOUR batt cable connections

Okay thanks will try that.

on cold mornings sometimes my solenoid doesn't pull in either. Getting fed up with this thermister thing so I want to wire the solenoid so it gets full voltage when the starter solenoid is energized. Anyone see a problem with this? It would still drop back to the low (run) voltage as soon as I let go of the key, normally about 3 seconds.....

Terminals are clean, Battery is fine. Lights are operational. Tried when it was about 65'F whats next?

Does starter do anything when key is turned to start position?

Have you tried CAREFULLY with someone pressing clutch pedal down shorting across from "S" terminal on starter solenoid to upper large terminal? Have you checked all safety(neutral start) switches for continuity?
