Does anyone have any thought on the new T-4 emission standards that are coming out next year. Supposedly it will add $4-5K to the price of just about all the CUTs being sold. Is the newer emissions good or bad from a power and owner standpoint? Will the engines likely wear out sooner or be lots more $$$ to repair/ work on? Thanks

T-4 is already here.as soon as the the T-3 tractors sell they are being replaced with the T-4s.i know becuse i traded tractors in july to beat the T-4s.the T-4s are on dealers lots now.

My local Kubota dealer cannot get Tier 4 emissions compliant tractors from Kubota, so he has purchased ten of the last Tier 3 tractors he could get, to have inventory on his lot.

NOW is the transition period.

I have been looking at a Kubota 'Grand L'. The price on new Tier 4 inventory is $6,000 higher. Dealer told me half of the increase is in the exhaust system. No Tier 3 inventory available.

Several of the guys now have the '60 series(Tier 4) of Grand L tractors and have reported on them. They are quite a bit different in layout. There have been several threads.

Yup, Tier 4 stinks. Inventory is switching right now. Anything tier 3 is built and that's it, currently all tier 4 stuff in production. Higher initial cost, higher service costs. Thank You EPA.

The link below gives all the EPA requirements for non-road diesel engines. As you can see, full compliance with Tier 4 is not required until year 2015.

Emission Standards: USA: Nonroad Diesel Engines

Wow! The EPA sure missed on the cost increases I guess. Their estimate was about 2-3% and it looks like more than 25% increases. OUCH! Thank you all for the replies.

What's the old saying? "Close enough for government work!" I would have put a smiley on that, but not everyone would get the irony.

Could you link a couple of those threads? I have searched but didn't find any threads dealing with this subject. Maybe the subject is inside other threads that were abouyt other topics. Thanks.
