The Deere one puts your wrist in a better position as you lean on the parts counter also, for taking it up the keester at two to three times the price. You know, JD's world class pricing. :thumbsup:

Considering it's just a handle on a metal rod, the metal rod could be bent or re-fabbed in some way to whatever position you like best. Old die-hard hot-rodders never had a four on the floor with a stock shifter, they always did a custom shifter bent around to the best fit for them.

I have no doubt that JD put a lot of $$$$$$ in the engineering of their 3rd function control grip so that will work nice and be comfy on their tractors.

Reminds me of the USA spending over a million $ in the 60s to figure out how to get a pin to right is space. The Russians used a 3 cent pencil. Things don't always need to be as complicated as we make them.

Agreed, there is such a thing as overthinking things. But I'm thinking of a better analogy, Pens in space give an unalterable record of events (same reasons legal stuff is done in pen rather than pencil). The lots of $$$$$$ JD put into engineering a comfy control grip is more akin to the $1000 toilet seats the USA has been known to buy. It can't be THAT much better or more comfortable than a solution such as yours...

Comfort for one may not be for another, so in my mind JD wasted their money (unless to fit you, they happened to get it right, then you can feel super special cause you can be sure JD sunk gobs of cash in making you comfy).
