Well, I've finished 3 stone projects so far and the 4th is on the go, I should be finished cutting tonight. So far, I've built an outdoor shower at the cottage, a new kitchen table and a mantle for a friends fireplace. I'm now working with the nicest piece of granite I've ever seen, it's going to be a new computer desk. There's not much time left this year to work with this stuff since cutting and polishing it is done with water and it's starting to get a little chilly to be soaked from head to toe. I've started wearing a full rain suit, but my hands still start to ache after a few hours.

Here's some pics of my new table. We changed our minds on what to use (from my previous posts) and used a chocolate coloured marble instead. It was very hard to work with because marble is softer and seems to like to chip a lot easier. My first task was to build a tool to bend the legs, then a jig to assemble them (getting them roughly the same length seemed important). With 3 young kids, I constantly had to move the old table back to it's place, roughly centered under the light. The new table weighs a little more than 400 lbs and I figure it should stay put now! All in all, I'm happy with the results.

Wow...aren't you glad you went with the larger tractor when you did?

Did the truck that overtook you on the first load look like the one you see here at 3:25?

Thanks for telling us all about it.

Jon

Jon,
I don't know how I missed your post. Crazy vid, it pretty much sums up what was going through my head at the time. Very happy I traded for the bigger tractor. I loved my CK30, but I couldn't have handled the granite with it.

Thanks, I'm happiest being busy, other than sitting with my wife with a couple cups of coffee in the morning, I don't feel right sitting around, I tried it once, didn't like it at all!

And you should be. That table is beautiful. Nice work and I really enjoyed seeing it

Thanks Paul, that's high praise coming from a craftsman like yourself. That first picture of the table base in my "shop" must have made you cringe:laughing: It's not usually that bad, I had to build a level area to assemble the table. I also compete with my kids for space, and I'm currently loosing.

I just bought a pack of 10 - 18W LED work lights for the tractor. Still waiting on delivery. You'll probably still have me beat by a few million lumen, but I'm looking forward to being able to see this winter.

Well those who know me will tell you I say it as I see it and I'm telling the truth when I say I was more than impressed with the steel work you did. I'd be proud to place that table in our home. Outstanding work sir. If I were there I'd have to shake your hand, pat you on the back and say "Well Done".

You'll love the lights. I'm removing the OEM's this week and going all LED's.

just saw this thread, good read. Wonder if that guy was spontaneously mad at you like that because he realized how much money he just gave away....?
