I, too, have passed through Wichita Falls a number of times on 287 but don't guess we've ever stopped there.

I had a great uncle that lived in Vernon. I used to pass through WF when going up to visit him. It was an easy drive in that area. I also found when I was driving through Amarillo, several years ago, that the lights were timed to let traffic flow. If you hit one light red, when it changed if you got up to the speed limit, it was the ONLY one you'd catch red, all the way thru town. I think the DFW area times them to make sure you catch each one red, of you get up to the speed limit.

While all you folks are stuck in traffic in DFW, Austin, or Houston, I can tell you that getting around Wichita Falls, TX is a breeze.Of course, there aren't a lot of jobs there. As long as they don't close Sheppard AFB, it will remain a very nice little city with great highways and most everything you would ever need. Yesterday, I discovered Acme Brick and a fireplace/outdoor grill installation place. I like Wichita Falls a little more every time I go there. I'm sure there are many small cities with similar characteristics all over the state. If I can avoid the big metro areas and stay in the small cities my attitude soars and my blood pressure is low.
Amen Jim- The biggest traffic jam here in Wood Cty is aisles of Wal-mart after Church lets out on Sunday.........so we just avoid Wally-World during Rush hour.

Got outside today first time in several days and its nice,sure yall didn't start this fall/winter thread to soon cause it still feels like summer when I went down. Doc said today can get back at it OCT.16,boy am I counting down the days.
I rode the pastures and checked the cows,felt great,seen the new calves,just nice all I can say.

I'm with you. But it sure frosts me when we have to deal with the inefficiency and lack of job knowledge.
Spent 4.5 hours going to our nearest little town today just to pick up 2 engine and 2 hydraulic filters that I found out a week ago they didn't have one in stock. That cost me an extra $15 today since I missed the oil sale at TSC last week waiting on the filters to come in at the tractor dealer.. Called them yesterday to make sure they were in and spent 20 minutes on the phone, since the guy last week didn't put my name down, and making sure the guy this week checked the shelves not just the computer. Told him to sack them up and I'd get them today. Got there and had to wait since he had not picked them off the shelf, then paid $114 for 4 filters, tractor brand, but made in China. Next stop a lawn tractor dealer to get a blade bolt for an old super lightweight mower my wife loves for the pond banks that we paid $32 for brand new in the 70's. Classic B&S 3 HP engine. Blade Bolt $4.70.
Then to TSC for $105 for the same oil that was $90 last week. No deer netting; maybe some next spring they said. Then flu shots, paperwork went fast, since we were in the computer from last year, but waited 20 minutes for the pharmacist to finally give us the shots.
Then Wally-World to get some tropical fish. They always come in fresh on Wednesday. No clerk after 2 calls on the PA. My wife was ready to dip them out and bag them herself, when I suggested lunch at the Subway in the store.
Fish lady clerk was in there on a long break. Said she might be back in the department by 12:20. So we ate and looked around and she finally moseyed back to the department about 12:30. Then $80 worth of gas in car and 2 Jerry cans and back home to paradise.
The older I get, the more I wish I could just stay out here on the hill and not deal with town folks.
I'm sure they feel the same way about me after I give them the "Look":grumpy::grumpy:

Foreman, If I read your post correctly, Doc said you could get back "at it" on the 16th?? So why are you out in the pasture??? Might as well milk it all you can and lay low. Also, eat a heck of allot of Blue Bell Ice cream and you wont be back on here in 2 months saying you "did it again" :confused3::laughing:

pacerron; Small world! I have tropical fish as well! I think mine mighjt be more of an addiction though. I used to make a lot of the fish auctions. (Somehow, no matter how much I took to sell, I always came home with more than I intended!) Now, I just attend them, when I need to add some different and new fish. I always find something that I haven't had spawn before, and figure it will be a fun challenge. So, the fish reproduce and I don't have to restock very often. And, when I do go to auctions, I take some of mine to sell, to try to offset what I know I will spend.

Hard to believe it was 53 degrees here this morning. I even put on a light jacket when I went out to take the dog for a walk. But 91 degrees now. I let some, but not nearly all the dew dry off the grass before I started mowing this morning, because I wanted to get through before it got hot out there.
