i liked the tin on the ? 95 ford 350 ( probably most of the f series trucks ). when it was still boxy and had dual tanks back of the fender, and the chromed door handles with thumb button

Hahahahaha!!!!

Has any OEM ever done a comparison test that they didn't win handily?

Ford must have added big time power, because the last time they were compared at altitude the Ford lost badly.

That or reworked the Turbos.

For me its the 05 through 07.5 in the Super Duties for looks. SRW only, never been a dually guy in any brand.

They are all nice trucks, but I sort of just like the looks of the Ram. I can live with being 3 seconds slower per mile with that much weight behind me. I am just amazed at how well all of these trucks do. That is one heck of a lot of weight to be pulling up a grade at that altitude !

1978-79 Ford F-150's hands down.

Agreed100% although I like many of their body styles. 78-79 looks so tough.

What upsets me with all of these older trucks is the elimination of the vent "smoker" windows. My 86 bronco had it and my current 85 F350 stake diesel has it. A real loss getting rid of this option.

It's a silly test really. Operating cost and reliability are the items that have any real bearing on a combination like this. Who cares if it loses a drag race by a minute over a 10 mile pass. It's irrelevant.

I also agree with this. My father in laws ford front end loader with back hoe weighed 16,000 lbs. ( not sure what the trailer weight but I imagine 3500 lbs). I couldn't imagine towing that down the road (with any of the trucks). He pulled it with a 2002 ford F550 dually. It's just a lot of weight. I guess I'd rather have it and not need it, then need it and not have it.

Oh well. All these trucks are sweet.

Is the Super Duty still the old frame from 1999?

No. While it is similar, it has been upgraded and uprated many times since '99. In '05, they went to coil front ends, '08 saw another frame advancement as well as the '11.
