I can dress like that and fly the Rocket! :confused3:

More of a poke at the fixed wing, FG. I do like high contrast colors for airframes though. Safer. Everyone sees the pastel or "live wire" colors in the pattern. Why everyone is stuck on white is beyond me.

I had plane once. Rared back and gave it a good heave but it struck a tree then slammed to the ground then the dog pounced in it and tore it to smithereens (there's one for the funny sayings thread) and then there were thousands (ok maybe hundreds) of itty bitty styrofoam pieces all over the yard.:D

Ok ok no more plane talk.
It's still too wet to do work around here. However the grass jumped up and turned green. I need to go check to see if the winter grass has come in tomorrow.

Remind me never to fly with you!

Any pilot site would not be deemed "family friendly"! The busiest areas would be "performance" and "dirty jokes" threads!

I found out something working with pilots to develop ground school courses. You can have 6 pilots all saying the same thing and fighting because they all say the others are all wrong. I swear to you they all can say the same thing 6 different ways and almost come to blows fighting over who is right.:D

White is the coolest color for the insides of the plane. Dark paint jobs sitting out in the hot sun can raise the temperature enough to unleash all sorts of grimlins from the heat. I've worked on white, 727 freighters that had been closed up all day. We would open them at 8pm or so for a 10:30 launch. We would fire up the APU to cool down the plane because it was over 120 degrees inside.

Forget to cool down the plane before the Captain gets there and you'll have an arm load of log book writeups the next morning.

Oh yeah............some composite aircraft can have their structural integrity compromised by non-white paint jobs because of the heat.
hugs, Brandi

It's common to see school buses painted white on top, but this last week I saw two school buses in Wichita Falls that were all white. I don't know if all their school buses are white, but those two were almost new and completely white with only black lettering. I wouldn't think it would make that much difference to yellow paint, but evidently it does. White with a few reflective strips probably makes the buses more visible in the early morning hours before it gets light when the buses are out picking up kids.

It can become difficult for pilots to relax "command and control" in situations related to their cockpit ultimate authority and tremendous responsibility as a result of it, even on the ground.

Yes, but when they argue over the schematic layout of the electrical system diagram, it starts to wear thin. They don't want to change the functional parts, just rearrange them to their own personal liking. They want the batteries shown bigger, higher on the page, lower on the page, lines a different color, goofy fonts, flow from right-left instead of left-right, etc., etc. One guy had such a big ego that he wanted his name printed on every schematic in the book as if he had drawn them. . . sigh! Of course, I loved every minute of that. You just understood that was gonna happen. If you didn't like that, you needed to find another job.:)
