Rear Remote Issue

Howdy,

This is my very first post with hopes that I can get some guidance with a rear remote issue. I have a 2005 John Deere 5205 with about 600 hours on the clock. I finished this year's bush hogging and put my 6' Woods Hydra assisted scrape blade on for fall and winter road work. After hooking the two hoses up from the blade, I found that the control lever was frozen and would not move from side to side. It was working fine when I last used in about 6 months ago. I tried removing and reattaching the hoses but that did not help. I'm not very mechanically inclined but are there any ideas whats going on and suggestions as to what I can do to free up this lever..........Thanks in advance for any help or ideas..........Mark

How are the other hydraulics working?

It's possible the detents under the cap(parts key #1) are stuck or the spool is stuck. Apply PBblaster.Kroil or your favorite penetrating oil

Thanks for the replies. I did squirt some WD-40 at the base of the joy stick without success. I can try again at that specific area. All the other hydra have been working fine. Thanks Again.......Mark

Okay, then it is something specific to that spool/cylinders. I wonder if the spool itself jammed. Unusual that would happen. Did the lever get bent or hit?

Thanks for the reply TomSeller. I went back over to the farm property today and really hit it good with the WD-40. I then very slightly tapped the base, where the rod attaches, with a hammer and it finally freed up and is working great. Okay great. A spool can jam but since it is oil in the lines it is seldom that would happen. You may want to make sure your fluid isn't contaminated with water. If it is, it will look cloudy or milky in extreme cases? Check after it is running.
