Wisconsin resident "conservation patron" license is $165 but I think one still needs to spend additional $$$ for a federal duck/goose stamp and a few other things. But forget about that...I have to say that I love your signature line.

"The answer to all can be found in the mirror."

I believe that each generation since the 1960s, speaking broadly, has been purposely made less moral, less disciplined and less capable of self reliance. In light of their diminished capacity to parent, it is no wonder we are seeing such dysfunctional results in our society. Many of our traditions and values have been discarded as an integral component of this process.

I realize this is a bit aside of the thread, but the symptoms being discussed are part of a larger picture.

Or, maybe I just enjoy stirring the pot :)

Guys, what do you think about this one?

Zeeland public school in outlaws tag, chasing, 'running in packs'

If our kids wouldn't come home with scratches and broken knees once a while I would think that there is something wrong with them.
We never bought play station or such for them. Our house was always full of kid痴 friends. One time I found them in the basement watching TV when the weather was so nice outside. I chased them out but shortly after I found them back watching TV. I went behind the house and disconnected the cable. Well they were smart enough to figure it out and when I caught them third time in the basement I took pliers and cut the cable. We had no TV except from air for several months until I fixed it when winter started.

There was a show two days ago on NPR about diabetes epidemic and even young people having osteoporosis due to lack of physical activity.

Although the costs of fishing and hunting have gone up, so has everything else. I think it's still a bargain. A one year Virginia freshwater fishing license is $23. You could pay that much to go to one movie and buy their expensive refreshments (I don't). Since I flyfish for trout, too, I have to pay an extra $23 for a Trout license, but all total that still comes to under $4 per month, and I can fish all year.

Small game Hunting is $23, and big game tags are another $23...with 6 deer tags, 3 turkey, and a bear. The deer season where I hunt is long - bowhunting started yesterday (all I got was a bunch of seed ticks and it was 89 degrees) and gun season doesn't end until January 4. There are less expensive licenses for seniors, disabled vets, and even an "apprentice" license to help get people started into hunting. Yes, there are additional licenses required for archery, muzzleloading and waterfowl if you pursue these. Kids hunt free.

Virginia continues to acquire land for Wildlife Management areas with these fees, and has recently begun to require hikers/birdwatchers, etc without a hunting or fishing license to purchase a DGIF access permit ($23) to use these lands to help maintain them. There are also 3 million acres of National Forest in the state, all available for a $4 permit.

So, it costs more than it used to, and some of the laws are complicated, especially waterfowl, but hunting and fishing are within reach of most people, both financially, and access to land. It is up to us to help keep these traditions alive. Please take a kid fishing! or hunting!

Anyone remember the game of "Red Rover Red Rover send some one over."
And who tried was blocked by others holding hands.
Merry go rounds and swings ,slides , races running bare footed on cinder tracks.

Or children allowed to ride there bike what ever distance they wanted just be home by supper time. and be gone all day .

Doesn't every generation say the same? I think you just proved you are getting old.
