Interesting 3pt log grapple

Looks simple to build if you needed one. It could be made with a logging tong style grapple, too.

I agree, that's a very interesting design, Bruce. I have never seen it done that way.
I saved the photo; thx for posting.

I considered making a log-skidding grapple, but somehow, I never got around to it.
There are a number of tricks you can use to allow differential jaw movement using
only one cylinder.

I like the arrangement of the pulling chain that goes around two bolts but is not fastened (if I see it correctly) so that both sides of the grapple are pulled evenly when going around a corner with a log.

That's somewhat local to me. If it were a cheaper I'd go take a look at it out of curiosity.

Yea, seems a bit high.

Seems one could be built for ~$500.

Cylinder $100
Steel......$200-$300
Hoses.....$100

would make a fun and pretty easy project. Looks really handy. No more getting on and off to ghain and unchain longs:thumbsup:

That is the asking price not the selling price. It looks like it has been sitting around for a few years.

The use of the cylinder is not ideal. It will have more power to open the jaws. That requires an oversized cylinder. I kind of like the style where the cylinder pushed just one of the grappling arms and the second is linked mechanically to the other. I like the chains though. I like the idea of having low pulling point.
