Anyone seen the Milky Way lately?

We get the milkyway at night. The light pollution is creeping toward us from the east where the bigger towns are.
Ever noticed how bright the moon is on a clear night- almost bright enough to read by - like someone left the light on!

It's got to be one of those crisp, clear, Winter nights around here or the ground haze picks up all the electric lights and washes it out.

This could be very, very dangerous.

If your belly is expanding at a rate that exceeds the expansion rate of the universe, you will create a singularity in the space-time vicinity of your belly. Who knows what could happen if your belly sucks the rest of you into the Twilight Zone?

In 2012 they declared a Dark Sky Reserve at Mt St John observatory down on our South Island. Mt St John is at 3,300 ft and the reserve is 1,700 sq miles. I haven't been there at night but I would imagine on a moonless night it would be as 'black as the inside of a cow'. There is nothing but clear air for miles. I believe some Hollywood celeb has just been out visiting it.
