M7040HD-1 Satisfaction?

I've always scratched my head at that test. Something's off there. That means I can only get about 5 hours out of one tank of fuel running at 2400rpm? That's not even close to accurate with my experiences.

E.g. the closest test to an M7040 from the Univ. of Nebraska is the M6800 - which they rate at 4.1gph consumption.

I wonder if those figures are a result of running it on the PTO dyno with a high amount of resistance? As in, a lot more than running the PTO under normal operating - rotary cutter, disc mower, etc.?

Measured fuel consumption at full rated PTO horsepower. Full load, in other words.

I like my M7040,good runner i have a 16ft mower I use for mowing 180 ac. of crp and it works great works well with my 7ft drill seeder, the only issue is with the fel i need more weight on the back i have the cast weights on but still light on the back. I looked at Deere but they want to much for that green paint kubota just gave me a signature loan where jd wanted my first and last born and the farm

Gotcha. That's got to be quite a load then. Not sure I would ever run my tractor at that level for continuous hours.

I really like my M7040 - it has done all I've asked of it. But I often wish I had more gears. At PTO speed, 4th gear is too slow and 5th gear is too fast. My next tractor will have a 12 gear transmission.

Got it - love it. Not much more to say. I also looked at the JD 5075E and came darn close to buying it. The dealer was even significantly closer (17 miles verses 85 miles), but in the end I just liked the Kubota better. We also have an L3130 that we just flat out abused. That Kubota is 10 years old and STILL going strong - which was a ringing endorsement for Kubota as far as I was concerned.

I have two and both have been great in the hay field and on the ranch. I run a 8ft disc cutter, without running my loader. I have one that doesn't have rears loaded and one that does, would go ahead and get them loaded. The 12x12 would be great for pulling my 5x4 baler but think for squares the 8x8 will be fine, cause mine doesn't have issues until a good hill and a full bale running high range.
