I have a Massey Ferguson 1030 4WD. The front axle has developed some severe play forward and backwards at the pivot point. Does anyone have any experience in repairing this issue, and what and where are the parts needed?

Thanks Guys

AGCO Parts Books Enter site as "Guest" Diagram looks like the pivot uses a (1) bushing, parts description states uses (2) #3282364M1 "carrier bracket bushings"

This is great! Has anyone on here ever attempted this repair? Any forewarns?

Haven't done it myself. Your tractor is the same or very similar to the Hinomoto 2304 and Deutz Aliis 5220. Seems I remember a few TBN members that had same issues on one or two of those models and it seems pretty straight forward. I would probably unbolt the carrier bracket from the tractor just to make access easier, press or drive the old bushing(s) out and press or drive new bushings in. Bolt carrier back to tractor, hook axle back up to carrier.

I have a MF 1240 4WD...I think this was few models after yours. Anyway, on my front axle there is a bolt with a lock nut to adjust the front axle float. Free play (fore/aft) aft this pivot should be next to 0. My manual describes free play being the thickness of a feeler gauge.

Not sure how that much free play would develop? I spoke to a service manager once about free play, who had lots of experience on the older models. He told me to correct the problem immediately as the shaft could fall out, and destroy the transmission pan, axle mounts, etc. He's seen it before on other tractors and it is big $$ to fix.

Your post is older, hope you can find a fix to your problem.
