can't find serial number, LX279- where is it?

I am looking for the serial number on my LX279. I cannot find it. I was told it was on the frame above the right front tire, but i see nothing. I know these were only made from 99-03, but it matters when you buy some parts. Thanx-Crossy

The LX188 model sticker is silver and on the rear frame behind/underneath the seat. "MOL***********

Nope, def not that easy to spot.

and now I need to know where the model number of the engine is. It is either an AS04,BS04, CS04 or DS04 and I'll be danged is I can find anything like that number. this is a very early model LX279 that was made in 08-98 and they only offered these from 99-03 so I would ASSUME that the water -cooled Kawasaki 17 HP is an AS04 ??- any ideas?

Might find in your operators manual. But should be visible on engine.

I was misled by the subject title too, as now crossy is looking for the engine model number.. think he found the answer to the subject line question but don't know that for sure.
