Posthole Digger 3pt Post Hole Digger (make it tougher)

I'm having problems digging holes with a 6 or 12 inch auger. I keep buying new teeth on both of them and would like to know if anyone has ideas to improve the "grip" on these teeth so they can continue to dig instead of them just spinning. Thinking of welding something on the auger itself around the teeth area so maybe some metal "fork" looking teeth. Don't know I'm out of ideas. I do have rock and caliche but seems the 45hp Mahindra would do a better job digging past a foot or so. Frustrated..

They do make rock bits for post hole diggers. Takes a while to grind through stone though, and a downforce kit is almost always required for stone (3 point doesn't produce any downforce on its own).

If you have solid full width teeth, you could notch and alternate them like this. That would about double the pressure on each cutting edge.

I've heard good reviews on Pengo teeth. Google "pengo carbide". Amazon even has a few Pengo teeth for sale.

Keep in mind that your post hole digger might not be designed for the extra stresses involved in auguring through rock.
