2013 LS U5030
New to the forum, but have read a lot of great things about these LS tractors from y'all. I own 52 acres and I'm very interested in the 5030 w/fel. Trying to decide on a fair price. All comments appreciated.

Graborn,
I purchased a new U5030 with front hay spear from Scott Holland at RCO Tractor in Greenville TX a couple of weeks ago ( sorry I haven't posted photos yet) for $26500. Been pleased with the tractor with the exception of two things- 1) the lift arm adjustments hook up to the outside of the lift arms rather than the inside which makes it a bit of a pain to unhook from implements. Hook up is a breeze but not unhooking. 2) The top link was too short to match up to my rear 3 point hay spear. When leveled all the way down, it would tilt down when raised. When leveled at raised position, it would tilt up too far in the lowered position to push into a round bale. If you have further questions, keep posting.

Thanks for the comment. I've heard Scott is really helpful. Also trying to figure out which med/heavy rotary cutter, and box blade to go with?

I already had a 5' cutter and box blade so I didn't need either. I almost went ahead with the 6' cutter but just couldn't justify having both as it is something that I only use a couple I f times a year. I will primarily be using the LS for cutting and baling 50-60 acres of hay.

We'll I've seen an online price from a dealer of $26,000. Anyone have anything lower on the 5030?

Chedk with Magee's in Poplar Bluff, he saved me thousands on an xr4046hc. And i did check every dealer for 5 states.

I looked at a U5030 today. Last year's model, I think, as it had the Tier 3 engine. On the lot for $27,500, which I thought was a little high, but he didn't think I could beat the price. I liked the tight turning radius, the 2 hydro remotes, adjustable lift arms, self-leveling bucket, and the low-mounted fuel tank. The shuttle shift seemed kind of useless over a traditional geared tranny. You still have to push in the clutch to go from forward to reverse.

I also looked at a Mahindra 5010. $2500 cheaper.

I honestly don't know which way to go.

I've driven both the Mahindra 5010 and the LS U5020 (slightly lower HP brother of the U5030). I think the U5030 is a lot more tractor than the Mahindra 5010. It weighs about 900 pounds more than the 5010 and has about 700 pounds more lift capacity on the 3 point hitch. The LS has telescopic lower links on the 3 point hitch; the 5010 does not.

The U5030 is a small utility tractor; the Mahindra is a large compact tractor. The LS horsepower is 55 (48 pto); the Mahindra is 49 (41.5 pto for the geared tractor).

So, based on the specs, the Mahindra should be cheaper.

And yes you have to use the clutch on the shuttle shift, but you don't have to come to a complete stop and you don't have to search for a gear. Just shove it forward or pull it back to change directions.

I bought the U5030 last September and paid $26500, but depending on availability of remaining Tier3 models, they may be going for this much. My Kubota B7800 is hydrostatic but I like the shuttle shift. I do a lot of back and forth movement loading round hay bales on trailers and have found it very easy to use. I looked at Mahindra, NH, Deere and Kubota but felt like the LS have the best buy for features. No regrets.
