Have You Been in a Movie?

As I was on my way to Seneca, SC several weeks ago, I noticed several box trucks and vans parked in the lawn of a nice, but modest, bungalow-style home. Given the number of people milling around, I thought the owners must be carrying out some extensive (and expensive) renovations. On my return, I noticed that the trucks and vans had disgorged numerous lights on tripods, cables, and other material. It then dawned on me that the house was being used as a location for a Burt Reynolds movie that is being filmed in the area: SENECA, S.C.: Extras needed for Burt Reynolds movie in SC | Entertainment | The State

The movie's producers had requested 200 extras for various scenes. I have no theatrical ambitions, so I didn't answer the call. But this got me to thinking: "Have any of you ever appeared in a movie"?

PS -- I was surprised to learn that Mr. Reynolds is 77.

Not me, but my son got selected for a small roll in a training film for disneyland in Ca. Best part... about 10 head of the line passes for all the attractions. Great deal on a hot, crowed weekend.

I've been in several movies, but only in my dreams. Our car club was invited to participate in a movie that was produced by the film students at Oklahoma University, and quite a few of us did. We all dressed in 70's era clothing and brought our cars as backdrops for the movie. Our car did appear in the movie for a few seconds in a couple of scenes in front of a movie theater, but that's about the size of it. I think a couple of members may have been seen in a fleeting street scene.

StoneyPoint, I work in Seneca and went to high school there. A couple of guys I work with did go to the Extra tryouts and will be in Elbow Grease. Some of my friends from high school have met Burt Reynolds while he's in town. The photo's have been on FB. This is the second time Burt has been in this area. He's already known for Deliverance, which was filmed up near Jocassee Lake as it was being built.

Roy, sorry, but I'm not interested in the titles of the films that made you the star that you are today! Hahaha.

I was in a Army training movie only once and it had me sitting in my jeep with my commander watching the battle below us. My jeep had fake Russian Stars on the side of it and on day 3 of filming I got to see a dead man come back to life real fast. During that scene it was a tank on tank battle with infantry support and one of the grunts was supposed to die but when he died he fell on his back onto a cactus bush and got up real fast screaming. The medics had fun that day using some kind of pliers pulling out needles out of his back but for all those five days of filming we was on in the movie for about 90 seconds when we got to see the final results.

I once had a boss, one of the best bosses I ever had, who used to write **** stories. I assume he was making scripts for movies too but he never said. The funny thing was that this guy was a bit of a rebel, as one would expect, but he ended up working for the IRS as a Collections agent and manager. He and his employees were the ones that seized your property for failing to pay taxes. :shocked: I was always amused by the idea of an ex **** writer, I always wondered if he did more than write, who morphed into an executive plane taker. :laughing::laughing::laughing:

While doing morning exercises at Fort Knox Kentucky we were informed that a small plane would be flying over, and at a given command we were to fall down and play dead. We later found out we were in the movie Goldfinger, the plane flew over and supposedly spread posion gas to kill us.

Not me, but my FIL was an "extra" in Robocop and Freejack. I bought 'em on dvd a couple of years back ($1.99 ea ) to make fun of him. :laughing:

You sure they were sold as **** stories and not Harlequin Romances? I picked up one of my wife's and she asked me why my ears turned so red all of a sudden. ;-)
