Recently bought a 2006 F350 Lariat CC SRW LWB FX4 with 3.73 rear end that had 131k miles from a friend of the family for a farm truck/family hauler. I had it checked out by a ford mechanic friend before I bought it and he didn't find anything wrong. What mpg are others getting with similar trucks? Also what is normal turbo psi for running 70 mph on fairly level highway? Everything is stock but tires may be slightly bigger than original. These two questions are with no trailer.

I've been getting around 14mph with mine. I don't recall what the psi is normally but it isn't very high if I recall. Congrats on the new truck. I use mine for family, farm and construction.

Mine is a 2006 F350 4x4 srw diesel short bed extended cab. I get 17 mpg tank to tank. I can get upto 23.6 mpg on the highway. I drive it by the tach. 1900 rpm is the sweet spot for the 6L. This gives me about 78 to 79 mph.

I do have 4" exhaust, a Quadzilla 160 HP chip, and a MAC intake and filter.

Mine runs about 2k rpm at 70 mph, turbo is about 5 psi, and gets about 17 mpg. All of this is on level interstate with no trailer.

Your off size tires must be a issue. Mine has the factory size on 18" wheels. 17mpg interstate is low for any diesel of that era with 3.73 gears. I had a 05 Dmax before this Ford and it would fo 21mpg with no mods. My neighbors now gone 2007 Dmax did the same. I know a couple Cummins guys who do about the same.

I get 17 to 18 with mine at about 70 mph 1900 to 2000 rpm less than 10 lbs of boost. If you want milage keep it under 2000 as much as possible and the boost as low as you can. I try not run my boost over about 25 even when towing heavy. The only time I see a need to run over 2000 is interstate on ramps and some times you just have to run it up to match speed.

The 60 has a bad reputation but my 06 has been flawless. It has never had a wrench on it except for filters and oil. If you can force yourself to run 60 mph or so and stay off of it you can probably get 20mph but it is hard to do.

Partly my fault. 3.73 as well but 32 inch tires. Also have an SCT programmer running Looney tune.. Most of my driving is around town and sometimes it's hard to keep my foot out of it. The few times I drive interstate I've gotten 17mpg

i find it hard to keep my foot out of it too.. and I'm usually towing or have a pallat of sod or compressed hay bale in the truck too. :)
